Show City Council Transacts Regular Business Consideration of the new plumbing and wiring ordinances was discussed at the regular city council meeting held Saturtlay, November 9, in the City Hall. It was deemed advisable to take no action until a detailed explanation ex-planation of the same could be received re-ceived from the city attorney. A communication was received from the United States Fidelity and Guaranty Co. asking that in case any of the newly elected city officers were in need of a surety bond in order to qualify, that the company above mentioned be given an opportunity to serve. Inasmuch as personal bonds were all that had been required in the past, no definite action was taken. Councilman Miller reported that the School District was now ready to pay for one-half of the amount neces- trt flrtnofpnot q lntfira fpnpft he- sary to construct a lamte wucc Between Be-tween the Harrington School and the City Hall properties. The Public Property committee was ask to get bids on the same. Complaints were received relative to the condition of the gutter on Main street from 1st to 2nd west. The matter was referred to the street supervisor for action. Councilman Shelley reported that corrugated pipe had been ordered for the repair of the condition at the head of the old water system. He furtrer stated that the entire lower water system would be repaired so as to be safe in every respect. The continued distruction of the newly erected street signs and con-ditiona con-ditiona at the comfort station was considered at length. The matter wag finally referred to the mayor to consult with the principals of the grade and high school to see if such cooperation could not bo had in which the offenders might be apprehended- The recorder reported that John Robinson had placed his ?250.00 cash bond for good behavior for Card Rooms. He further reported that the county commissiosers had cancelled can-celled the Ben Conder's property non-owned non-owned by the city. Election bills were also allowed. |
