Show LaMar Simmons LaMar Simmons, a former Park City resident, passed away in Salt Lake County on July 24 of an apparent heart failure. He was 67. He was born May 1, 1917 in Heber City to Willis A. and Mary Mair Simmons. According to historian Bea Kummer, he grew up in the Deer Valley area and the famly was well known locally. . He married Marion E. Moser on Sept. 12, 1947. She died on March 10, 1963. He subsequently married Leona M. Wallace on Nov. 30, 1964. He was a veteran of World War II. Kummer said that like many young men of Park City, Simmons did not return after the service, but was a frequent visitor for many years. He was an employee of Sears for 32 years. He was an LDS church member and one of the founders of the Murray South Little League Baseball Program. He is survived by his wife, of Salt Lake County; son Gerald L. (West Valley) daughter Mrs. Lynn (Karen) Powell (Benecia, California); his mother, of Murray; siblings Willis Alexander "Alex, Mrs. Jess (Elaine) Pedersen, Mrs. Neel (Eliza) Christensen, Mrs. Luella Pedersen, Elmo, James Ralph, and Mrs. Chris (Louise) Vaselou (all of MurraySalt Lake) Dean, Pierce, and Mrs. Roger (Shirley) Allen (all of California); and ten grandchildren; He was preceded in death by his father and a stepson, Lester A. Wallace. Interment was in Salt Lake City Cemetery. Thomas J. Fuell Thomas Justin Fuell, a former Park City resident, died in Provo on July 23. He was 80. He was born Nov. 5, 1903 in Vernal, Utah to John Ephraim and Anna May Martin Fuell. He married Verda Allred in Vernal on Aug. 28, 1924, a union later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on April 5, 1934. She died on June 10 of this year. He was a High Priest in the LDS Church. He worked as a hard rock miner in several western states. He worked the Park City mines, living with his family on King Road until 1950. At that point he moved to Ophir and continued mining, according to historian Bea Kummer. He is survived by children Justin (Provo), Ralph H. (Salt Lake), Dan and Neldon (both Tucson, Arizona), Nile (Blue Water, New Mexico), Sandy (Tooele), Mrs. Ernest (Rosilyn) Stanley (Hololulu, Hawaii), Mrs. Donald (Nonague) Miles (Eureka) ; and sisters Mrs. Esther Halvorson, of Neola and Mrs. Howard (Florice) Carpenter, of Murray. Interment was in the Santaquin City Cemetery. x Richard Yox Park City businessman Richard C. Yox died of an hereditary illness July 30 at the University of Colorado Hospital. He was 33. Yox was born in Buffalo, New York on June 8, 1951 . For the last eight years, he had divided his residence between Park City and Salt Lake. With his wile, Michelle, he had recently moved to San Jose California, recalled friend Sue Wagner. In 1978, he and Bob "Hot Rod" Rohr founded the company Hot Rod and Yox. Wagner said the firm performed electrical and plumbing repairs and maintenance. Yox had also been employed at Fun Country Reservations, Prospector Square HotelConference Center and Snowbird Corp. He is survived by his wife, parents Mr. and Mrs. Richard Haas (Orchard Park, New York); and brothers Paul, David (both of buffalo) and Robert (Florida). Yox was cremated in Denver. A service will be held Thursday at 6 p.m. at 2306 South 2300 East in Salt Lake. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Utah Heart Association. "Yox" was a great friend and loved by many. |
