However, the Chamber of Commerce will have to pay an additional $25 per year for property damage insurance. The primary use of the wagon will be to advertise Main Street. Planning Commission Vacancies Two vacancies still exist on the Park City Planning Commission, and applications are still being accepted. Applicants will be interviewed by the City Council on Thursday, September 19th, during executive session which commences at 5: 30 PM. CITY COUNCIL Shoving aside a request by the Planning Commission to review the status of Pressure Vessel Products, Inc., the City Council took no action concerning the firms operation at the September 5th meeting. Operating Outside of City Ordinances Mr. John Strand, chairman of the Planning Commission, sent a letter to the Council stating that files and records indicate Pressure Vessel has never been granted a conditional use permit or a business license even though the company has paid a business license fee each year. Pressure Vessel should be advised that they are operating outside of city ordinances the letter recommended. Sixty Days had The City Council previously granted Pressure Vessel sixty days in which to comply with the conditions imposed by the Planning Commission for plant improvements. Councilman Mary Lehmer said the Council acted under the assumption that a conditional use had been granted sometime in the past. She moved permit to have the Council meet with the Planning Commission to discuss Page 3 the matter, but the motion died for lack of a second. Councilman Jan (pronounced Yahn) Wilking was of the opinion that the Councils earlier decision to grant an extension should be honored and the other Council members concurred by not supporting Mrs. Lehmers motion. Business License Ordinance A proposed new fee schedule for business licenses met with strong opposition from local merchants. Mr. George Polychronis, owner of the Mount Air Market, said the schedule, which is based on gross business receipts, would place an inequitable financial burden on large volume, operations. It was decided that a committee of merchants would review the new schedule and attempt to formulate acceptable alternatives. New Water Rates The Council approved a new water rate schedule. The higher rates entail an average increase of 67 percent. Mr. Wayne City Manager, was directed to hire someone to conduct a survey of Park City Mathews, housing to update the living unit and sleeping capacities upon which the rates are based. Open Meeting At the suggestion of Mayor John Price, the Council voted to conduct an open town meeting on Thursday, September 12th, at 7 PM in City Hall. No agenda will be used for the meeting and any matters pertinent to the city can be offered for discussion. All citizens are strongly urged to attend. Business Licenses Business licenses were granted to Frederick Becker and William Coleman, the Prospector Square Development Company, and Dolly Crooks. til a license is received from the Federal Communications Commission. It was decided that a letter will be sent to Senator Frank Moss, who is a member of the Senate Communications Committee, urging action on the mat- ter. An increase in the cost of land acquisition for the proposed coun- ty airport was revealed by Councilman Clem Hansen. Mr. Hansen reported that land adjacent to the airport site is selling for twice the price which was originally estimated. Woolsey Reports Councilman Richard Martinez reported 200 feet of the new Judge Tunnel water drift is completed. The project should be finished sometime in December. Councilman Leon Uriarte announced all equipment for the new television transmitter is reposing in Coalville but that the transmitter cannot be erected un- - The Summit County Commission, acting on the recommendation of the County Planning Commission, approved the construction of a ski lift to be used by the U.S. Ski Team. Ski Team representative Earl Hansen was given the on installation of the 3,200 foot lift which will be used by authorized racing personnel only. go-ahea- d Park City Manager Wayne Mathews and Park City Councilman Clem Hansen appeared before the Commission to discuss the citys landfill operation. They presented cost figures and it was decided to hold a meeting of the Landfill Board on September 10th at 7:30 PM. U.S. Ski Lift Approved Park City Landfill motion to approve a license for the Supreme Food Corporation did not receive a second. A County Commission Convenes Sincerely, Park City Chamber of Commerce JF MAIN Furniture and Hardware Memorial Building The Commissioners heard complaints concerning the condition of the Memorial Building in Park City. Filth and disrepair were adjectives used to describe the structure. Commissioner Mel Flinders reported a board was in charge of the building and that a new custodian, Mr. Jere Wood, has been hired to conduct repairs which will include painting and plastering. A drug rehabilitation program will be conducted in the Memorial Building under the direction of Mr. Taylor Hartman. Ambulance Mr. Mathews reported that Park City has approved the purchase of a new ambulance.
