Show Orem-Geneva Times Wednesday, September 30, 1992 Page 9 "Parleys invade the Provo !SESS3-a Tabernacle" thru Monday Forum 0ot 14 Prepare yourself Utah Valley, the funniest play in Utah .is on stage. Those famous, fabulous, funny, fractured Farleys of "The Farley Family Reunion" are back in Utah Valley where they belong! Local playwrightactor James Arrington's hilarious one-man one-man show 'The Farley Family Reunion" will play thru Monday night (October 5) at the Provo JAMES ARRINGTON as Cousin Uffer K. Johnson Tabernacle. In the two side-splitting hours of this remarkable one-man one-man show Arlington plays sixteen six-teen of the funniest, oddest and most inept relatives anyone has ever seen... except, perhaps, at their own family reunion. "It's the best feel good play I've ever seen," says Kathryn Allen, director of the Provo Arts Council that is the local sponsor for the show. "Children seem to enjoy it as much as adults. It's really a great family show. And for those who've only seen the video-well, the live show brings something entirely different, this is a great show!" Indeed. Critics have universally univer-sally praised the play calling it "a sheer delight," a laugh-a-minute event," with Utah Holiday magazine saying, "take some aspirin for the side-ache produced by too much laughter." In fact, Joseph Walker of the deseret News says the play was almost lethal to his mother-in-law" by the shows end she was so weak for laughing, my wife and I had to practically carry her to the car." The play has gone through many changes since it first opened 10 years ago. "The Far-leys Far-leys keep changing," smiles Arlington Ar-lington knowingly. "Each year we've tried something new and there doesn't seem to be any end to new characters of situations." Arrington's own family doesn't escape his keen eye. Four of Arrington's relations are dirt farmers in Idaho. All served as inspiration for one of the quirkier characters in his one-many comedy, com-edy, so when two of those uncles were scheduled to see the show, Arlington was understandably nervous. Would they see themselves themsel-ves on stage? Would they be offended? of-fended? Arlington reports both uncles howled and hooted throughout the play, and - get this afterward each came up independent of the other, to congratulate con-gratulate the playwright on capturing cap-turing the quirks of the other uncle so darn well. "The Farley Family Reunion" on Thursday, Oct. 1, Friday, Oct. 2, Saturday, Oct. 3 and finishing Monday, Oct. 5. Tickets are $6 in advance or $7 the day of the show. "This will give everyone a good alternative," says Arlington. "It's the chance to laugh, giggle, chuckle, and guffaw guf-faw at all those wacky people who show up at your family reunion."
