At the end of September a handful of Valley residents came up with the idea of holding a community Halloween spook alley and carnival. Melanie Eyres, Lindi Pratt, and Eric Blanchard of Zions Bank Roger Terry of Valley Market Nancy Seraphin and Heidi Williams of Wolf Creek Resort Snowcrest Jr. High Sponsors Portrait Fundraiser Snowcrest Junior High is gearing up for its annual Portrait Fundraiser, which will be a bit different this year. One Moment in Time Photography will offer families three different options for family portraits; color, black and white, or sepia. The portrait fundraiser will be Snowcrest’s only fundraiser this year. On November 22, photos will be taken by appointment from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Snowcrest Junior High mall area. Funds from the school fundraiser will be used to purchase computers, books, and other needed items and supplies. Valley residents and businesses opened their hearts, and responded with a resounding “yes” when asked to help. Many contributed their time and talents to pull together an incredible spook alley that was enjoyed by hundreds on Halloween night. Through the cooperation of so many, young and old delighted in good old-fashioned fun, and a spook alley to scare the socks off even the bravest of souls. This free lecture series has received funding from a grant provided by the Utah Humanities Council for the last three years. The Utah Humanities Council promotes understanding of human traditions, values, and issues through informed public discussion. French artist Jeanine Cobb will introduce us to the beauty and architecture of Mademoiselle du Paris—the Eiffel Tower. This lecture is scheduled for Tuesday, November 18, beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the Eccles Community Art Center’s Main Gallery, 2580 Jefferson Avenue, Ogden. Other lectures are being scheduled through May 2004, including English Floral Artist ~William Kilburn; historian Esther Jackson on Thursday, March 18, 2004; and Three Great Mexican Muralists—Rivera, Roozco, and Siqueiros with art historian, Lila Larsen on Thursday, May 13, 2004. Fore more information, please call Debra at 801-392-6935 or check on-line at www.ogden4arts.org Eccles Community Art Center Participates in Holiday Activities—Hosts displays The Eccles Community Art Center, a member of the Historic 25 Street Association, will be participating in the Street’s Annual Open House. The dates for this year’s event are Saturday, November 22 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; and Sunday, November 23 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Carriage House Gallery will open with our annual Artist Invitational & Holiday Boutique. You are invited to visit the Eccles Community Art Center at 2580 Jefferson Avenue, Ogden. The Invitational/Boutique features the work of many Northern Utah artists and craftspeople. Arlene Muller, manager and creative soft sculpture artist, has dressed the gallery with holiday decorations, wreaths, and gift items. Potters, wood crafter, printmakers, and painters have brought in works reasonably priced, and perfect for gift giving. There is also a selection of hand-painted scarves, fused, and blown glass ornaments, as well as unique jewelry. The Main Gallery is displaying the art of Centerville painter, Darrell B. Thomas and the pit fired pottery of David Socwell of Salt Lake City. The Main Gallery will close at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 22, but will be open on Sunday, November 23. Please stop by during the open house or during regular gallery hours to do your holiday shopping. Regular gallery hours are weekdays 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; and Saturdays 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The public is welcome.
