The Ogdon Rapid Transit company represented that they could not place their trolley poles along tho sides of tho highwaj leading from Second street north on the Harilfivillo road until the telephone companies hau been compelled .io raise their wires far enough on their poles to permit the trolley wire to be placed at a height which would warrant tho operation op-eration of the road. A communication from James Mc-Kenna, Mc-Kenna, asking that the council allow two mouths' license on the Crystal saloon because of the opening of Hudson Hud-son avenue, the petitioner stating that he owned a saloon on the avenue known as the ' Blue Ribbon'' saloon, for which he had p.iid license .for a quarter year and had exeiclseil the ramo only one month. The matter was referred to the license commit tee. The Commercial National bank petitioned pe-titioned the council to establish a sewer district between Grant and Lincoln avenues, 1G feet north of Twenty-fifth street The question was handed to tho sewer committee, the engineer and the city attorney. A petition from property owners, asking that the city dumps of garbage gar-bage on lower Twenty-ninth street be removed farther from the city, was referred to the sanitary conimitte and the mayor. The city engineer was instructed to advise tho Ogden Rapid Transit company com-pany as to the exact place where their trolley poles Rhall be placed on the Hariisville road. A communication was received from the city park commissioners that they need $500 more to defray expenses for the balance of the year, and that If they do not get It they will have to let the parks go unkept. The commissioners com-missioners also stated that they could not understand why they were not allowed $1,500 instead of $1,000 some time ago. This question was turned over to the finance committee lor consideration. Mrs. S. P. Carlson presented a claim against the city for personal damages in tho sum of $100. She claimed that she was driven Into the excavation made by the Salt Iake & Ogden Railway company for Its track on Lincoln avenue, between Tweuty-loqrth Tweuty-loqrth and Twenty fifth streets, the buggy upset, and she Injured. Tho claim was rc-ferrcJ to the city attorney at-torney and the law committee, and the city recorder was Instructed to advise tbo Bamberger people that they must either lay the track where the excavation ha9 been mado or elso fill the excavation with dtrL The claim of the county clerk for the city's part of the expenses of assessing as-sessing the property of tho city for this year's taxes was ordered paid. The council adjourned for one week. |
