With ever-increasing brutality and destruction, modern warfare, if unchecked, un-checked, would ultimately crush all civilization. We wtill have a choice between the alternatives: Continuation Continua-tion of international chaos or the establishment of a world organization for the enforcement of peace." I The above quotation from President Truman's open-1 ing talk to the San Francisco conference of the United Nations merely puts in words the feelings of thousands ,,m, vvuinen vvuiie reauing aDout the vast des truction going on in the nations where the war is fought. Certainly we must have an agreement between the majority of nations whereby they all, in a united effort, work for the benefit of all. Notwithstanding the fears and unfavorable remarks made about the conference we must have hope and faith in the leadership of the various countries. Surely! the other nations can see, as we see, that if another! war is thrust upon civilization the destruction will be so complete that the world will virtually be depopulated. |
