Show OBITUARIES Ira Elias Noble, Sr. Ira Elias Noble, Sr., 79, life long resident of Smithfield where he was a prominent farmer and church worker, died Tuesday at noon at the family home in Smithfield of carcinoma. He had been ill for the past year. Mr. Noble was born January 4, 1865 in Smithfield, a son of William Wil-liam A. and Sara Cornelia Merrill Mer-rill Noble. His father died when he was 16 "STJars of age and he began farm work at that time. He also helped haul rock and timber from Smithfield canyon for the Smithfield LDS tabernacle. taber-nacle. Active throughout his life in church work, he was a high priest in Smithfield stake, he had served in the Southern states mission from 1900 to 1902, on two homo missions and had done considerable con-siderable temple work. He also served as Benson slake chorister and Smithfield First ward chorister chor-ister for many years and had taught classes in all auxiliary organizations. Surviving are his widow of Smithfield, three, sons and four daughters, Ira E. Noble Jr., Mrs. Rachael Erickson, Mrs. Lucille Erickson, Mrs. Bessie Larkin, Mrs. Bernice Larkin, Smithfield; Melvin Noble, Ogden; Reynold M. Noble, Eurbank, Cal.; 27 grandchildren grand-children and four great grand- i children and one brother, Harper Har-per W. Noble, Smithfield. Funeral services were conducted today at 2 p. m. in the Smith-field Smith-field Fourth ward by Dr. G. L. 1 Roes, bishop. Burial in the Smithfield cemetery was directed by the Kenneth Lindquist mortu- i ary of Logan. |
