Show l OLITICS OK A LOCAL MAN Even though this newspaper subscribes to the principle of political party responsibility it is not unmindful of the support we owe to local men who aspire to state office. This newspaper has one obscession and that is "We stand first and last for local industry, local enterprise and worthy local individuals." In the coming election Superintendent E. Allen Bate-man Bate-man is a candidate for state superintendent of public instruction. in-struction. There have been attempts to take this office out of politics, but without going into the merits of this controversial con-troversial issue we feel that Logan and Cache Valley can repay, with support at the polls, the contributions made by Superintendent Bateman during his professional years of service here. The local man is eminently qualified to administer the affairs of the state department. No one. even the most rabid partisan believe he will let politics crowd out education educa-tion for he knows as does everyone else that the children of Utah and their welfare far transcends party lines. There are issues to be solved in the November election and in the days which follow but it is doubtful whether partisanship should or will manifest itself in the state office of-fice of education. |
