Show DAN LUDLOW Ludlow Wins USAC Election Dan Ludlow, of Spanish Fork, climaxed his student activity ca-1 rcer at Utah State Agricultural j college Friday by being elected j the flrsf, "two term" student body president. He defeated Lloyd Meacham, of Logan, in the finals. The election was one- of the most hotly contested in recent years and drew a record percent, age of students to the polls. According Ac-cording to Carol Sargent, of Cedar City, councilman In charge of balloting, approximately 83 per cent of the registered students voted. Campaigning featured some old-time old-time political "mud slinging" as unauthorized hand-bills made their appearance on the final day. Previously Pre-viously a student contested the constitutionality of the election through the columns of Student Life, campus weekly. Action on his "letter to the editor" will probably be taken in student council meeting next week, Miss Sargent said. Other winners in tne election were Katherine Jenkins, of Sugar Su-gar City, Idaho, for vice president; presi-dent; Charlene Petterson, of Garland, Garl-and, secretary; Rae Anderson, of Tremonton, three-year councilman. Dorothy Tanner, of Preston, Ida. ho; Grant Mortensen, of Sugar City, Idaho, and Seth Bills, of Riverton, won the three one-year council positions. Other candidates were Afton Bltton, of Swan Lake, Idaho, for vice president; Barbara Jean Forrest, For-rest, of Brigham City, esecretary; Mary Jean Sorensen, of Logan, three-year councilman; Adelle Young, of Logan, Gene Munns, of Brigham City, and Norine Kunzler, of Rosette, one-year councilmen. |
