Show Army Makes Rapid Progress At Ogden Depot Ogden Large concrete foundations founda-tions for' 35 of 40 warehouses under un-der construction at Ogden ordnance or-dnance depot for the storage of artillery and inert shellmaking materials have been completed, reports Lieutenant ' Colonel ' Elmer G. Thomas, construction quartermaster quarter-master for Ogden and vicinity. Brick walls have been finished for 15 of the 201-foot by 67-foot buildings, and brickwork has been started on three others. Roofs of orrugated cement asbestos have been installed on seven buildings and work is underway on the eighth roof. ' Pouring of concrete floors in the warehouse is in progress, with concrete from a stationary mixer being forced through a six-inch steel pipe 250 feet in length and consisting of 10-foot sections. By moving onV the pipe it is expected that virtually all of the warehouse floors may be poured from the mixer at its present location. Structural steel framework has been erected for 21 buildings, with the steel materials on hand for a total of 35 buildings. The steel is sprayed with paint before be-fore the walls and roofing are installed. About 95 percent of water distribution dis-tribution system has been completed com-pleted at the 40 warehouse area, as has 60 percent of a sanitary sewer system and 50 percent of a primary electrical distribution system. Excavation was started the past week for construction of a 600,000-gallon concrete reservoir, reser-voir, located near an existing 200.000 gallon concrete reservoir at Ogden ordnance depot. The new reservoir will stere water reserves reser-ves for use at the 40 warehouses and at a 37-millimeter shell loading load-ing plant nearing completion- |
