Show March 12, 1997 - The Pyramid Mildred Peterson named daughter of year SPRING CIT- Y- Mildred Knudsen Peterson was recently elected Canal Creek Camps daughter of the year. In keeping with the tradition started in 1986, she is the tenth daughter to be elected in the Spring City chapter of Daughters of Utah Pioneers (DUP). She was bom Nov. 26, 1907, on a fruit farm in Provo, to Milton Herman Knudsen and Vivian Etta Cram. In 1918 her family moved to Ames, IA, so her father could finish school at Iowa State College; then to Madison, WI, and the University of Wisconsin. Afterwards, the family moved to Driggs, ID, and to Ricks College at Rexburg, ID, where her father was made principal. Her father was called by President Grant to serve as president of Snow College in Ephraim. Mildred finished high school in Ephraim and graduated from Snow College in 1928. She taught school in Carbon County for two years, then went on to BYU, for one more year. She was teaching in Mt. Pleasant when she met and married Frank Peterson, July 26, 1933, in the Manti LDS Temple. Pleasant, has been recently promoted to and retail sales manager for First Security Bank, Southwestern Utah area. She started with First Security in 1981 in the management training program. She has held several branch positions in the Southwestern region of Utah. She graduated from Snow College and Utah State University with a bachelor of science degree in accounting. She has also completed several banking classes through American Institute of Banking. She lives in Hurricane, with her husband, Michael, and two children. She is currently serving in the Hurricane Elementary PTA and is vice president and secretary of Bank Administration Institute. Patricks Day stories, songs at library today Fountain Green Second LDS Ward Relief Society celebrated its 155th birthday on Wednesday, March 5, under the direction of the presidency with Carolyn Christensen presiding. PLEASANT A celebration of St. Patricks Day will be featured at the librarys last winter story hour to be held Wednesday, March 12, at 10:30 a.m. Gailene Hooper, a Spring City storyteller, will tell old Irish tales of little people and their legendary pots of gold. This weeks program will include an assortment of songs, stories and games about childrens fantasies. The children will also decorate their own cookie with candy fairy dust.
