Show I SPRING CITY I By Special Correspondence 1 Mrs. Elizabeth Davidson Larsen Is Feted on Her 85th BirthdBay The family of Mrs. Elizabeth Davidson Larsen, celebrated her eighty-fith birthday, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Alligee L. Anderson, at Nephi Thursday. She was born at Pleasant Grove Utah, August 24, 1859, a daughter daugh-ter of Hans Christen and Maria Jensen Davidson. They were both born in Denmark. Mrs. Larsen Lar-sen was five years of age when they moved to Mount Pleasant where her father was the first printer there and her mother was an early dentist and doctor. When Mrs. Larsen was sixteen years of age she bound and shocked grain in the fields to buy her first pair of shoes. The Indians came often to her home during the Indian troubles. She married Hans E. Larsen January 1, 1878 and since that time has resided in Spring City. She has been an ardent church worker, doing sewing and pre- -paring 'the dead for burial. She served for over ten years as a Relief Society President and for many years as a Relief Society teacher. With her counselors she cooked and cared for some of the aged people of the ward. Her husband died in 1904 leaving her a family to care for. She reared a granddaughter, Mrs. Audra Cox of Midvale. She had II children, two are living, Mrs. Rose Peterson, Spring City and Mrs. Alligee Anderson of Nephi. There are 17 living grandchildren grandchil-dren and 28 great grandchildren with two grandsons in the Service Serv-ice of our country. Mrs. Larsen lives alone and cares for herself. Her hobbies are quilt piecing, hand work, writing letters and making rag rugs. Mrs. Helen M. Madsen is visiting visit-ing in Los Angeles, California with her sister, Miss Laura Van Cott. Pratt Osborne and son, Kenneth Ken-neth were Salt Lake visitors Sunday and Monday. - The ward officers, under the direction of the ward Bishopric, Bishop E. B. Terry, Floyd Draper and Royal Allred, enjoyed an outing and lawn party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Christen Sorensen, Wednesday evening. The Primary officers had charge of the program and the M. I. A. officers supervised the games. Pfc. Edwin A. Pedersen is home on furlough visiting his wife and two children and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Pedersen. He. was stationed , at, Port Sill. Oklahoma. Mrs. Ardith Johnson of Las Vegas, Nevada and her small son are visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James F. Ellis of this city. Her husband, Lt. Arthur Johnson, John-son, an instructor In the Air Corps at Las Vegas, is now in Texas training in Officers school. The Althea club members were guests of Mrs. M. R. Strate at her home Friday evening. Pvt. and Mrs. Boyd Blain, recently re-cently home, have returned to Kentucky, where Pvt. Blain is stationed at Camp Campbell. They came to attend the funeral services of E. A. Billington. Mrs. Sarah E. Allred received word that her grandson, Harvey Elmer was wounded and in a hospital in England. He has three brothers in service and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Elmer of Hooper, Utah. The members of the Lititia and Fidelia club were guests of Mrs. Etta- Larsen at Chester Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs." Archie Aiken and family, Mr. and Mrs. Vero Aiken and family, Mrs. Terrance Aiken and family, Spring City, and Mr. and Mrs. Cleve Peterson and children of Redmond enjoyed an outing and Canyon party Sunday Sun-day to celebrate the birthday of L. W. Aiken. Many friends and relatives met at the home of Mrs. Grace B. Allred Friday to celebrate her birthday. Her daughter, Mrs. Duretha Smith of Pleasant Grove and a sister, Mrs. Florence Larsen Lar-sen of Columbia, Utah were also present. Connell Osborne and Ned All-red All-red have returned home after spending several days visiting in Salt Lake City. Miss Eula Lea Blain was a recent Salt Lake City visitor at the home of her sister, Mrs. Carol Christensen and at present is visiting in Manti at the home of Mrs. Hope Peterson. Donald Fullmer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Fullmer, is recovering re-covering from a broken shoulder which he sustained when he fell from a load of hay. Miss Manett Allred is visiting Mrs. Olive Glazier at Draper, U-tah U-tah and Mr. and Mrs. S. S. Allred, Salt Lake City. Many friends and relatives called at the home of Mrs. Nancy S. Allred for her birthday Tuesday Tues-day afternoon. Among the friends and relatives rela-tives of this city attending the funeral services of Lt. Dick Erick-sen Erick-sen a.t Mt.
