Penney Following a business meeting and family news a children’s auction was held with happy bidders and lots of special surprises An adult auction followed with auctioneer Hugh LeFevre assisted by Larry and M Earl Paxton auctioning off many beautifully wrapped gifts The jelly bean jar was won by Cherie Paxton with a guess of 13 The lovely family gift brought by Beryle LeFevre was won by Earl and Sally Paxton Photo albums were presented to the oldest man Earl Paxton oldest lady Sylvia Penney youngest child Jennifer Garcia a pinwheel largest family present Sally and Earl Paxton can of cookies traveled farthest Susan Ballis-tLong Beach CA a huge candy sucker Following a lovely luncheon a fish pond run by Kristi Penney and Cherie Paxton opened for fishing of all ages with everyone getting special “fish” A bubble gum blowing contest was fun with Penny Paxton Jamie Christensen and Tammy Sessions all getting large bubbles Everyone received a prize During the day there were badmitton horseshoes fishing and swimming in the creek picture taking looking at last year’s pictures eating food all day and learning family news Punch and carmel corn were furnished by reunion committee A fun time was had by all 49 people there On Aug 29 1987 Scott Watts took Myma M Barker as his new bride The Kanosh Ward Relief room was full of friends and relatives to witness this joyous occasion A luncheon was served after the marriage to the friends and relatives from Idaho Salt Lake area Fillmore Cedar City Escalante and Kanosh The day was a double occasion as it was also Scott’s birthday were present at the Thirty-siKanosh Ward Choir Party held on Sat evening Aug 29 at the town park which included choir members with their partners A delicious meal was served Willard and Dathel Whitaker received the good news from their son Ray and wife Diane of Salt Lake City of the birth of their new baby daughter born on Monday Aug 24 Ray asked “Doesn’t this make 66 the question grandchildren for you?” The answer is “yes” The new arrival will be named drea Whitaker Her three brothers and one sister love her dearly Other proud and happy grandparents from Kanosh are Metta and Van George Their daughter Maralee UT presented Ballard of Hurricane them with a sweet little granddaughter on Aug 20 She will be named Mary An- Ellen because she was born on Aunt Ellen’s birthday Mary Ellen has three brothers to help spoil her along with proud daddy Dale Grandmother Metta spent ten days in Hurricane helping out in the Ballard home Guests at the Willard and Dathel Whitaker home were son Mike wife Cindy and four children from Fallon were anxious to NV Grandparents become acquainted with their number whom they hadn’t met 65 grandchild before Mike and family spent a week in Kanosh and attended the Nielsen Reunion there on Sat Sept 5 A “going away” party is given to the young women who have been working at the Pauite Fabric Products Sewing plant just prior to their leaving for school Bobbie Aarum has been honored Sharon Koyle who will be leaving soon for Utah State was honored last week and coming up will be a party honoring Danene Perkins A large group of Young Women and Young Men (with their leaders) gathered at the City Park in Kanosh on Tuesday September 8 to enjoy the combined activity for their Opening Social Fun games were played A hamburger fry topped off with rootbeer floats was enjoyed by all Thanks to Leonard Watts for the use of his large hamburger grill The Young Women’s Presidency President-Joycare: Minton Counselors- - Denna Shumway Barbara Sorenson and Cheri Perkins Whitaker The Young Men’s Presidency are: President-E- deGraffenried Christensen and Phil Blad Vella Hatton has enjoyed having her daughter Helen Fern Vogt for a two week visit with her Also coming to spend Labor Day weekend were her granddaughter Georgia Lee Langbehn and son Paul all from Simi Valley California to Sharon Koyle Congratulations daughter of Stan and Sue (Turner) Koyle who won 2nd place in the Essay Contest on “Our Constitution” which was sponsored by Channel 5 Sharon’s typed essay was sent in earlier in the year Finalists were chosen during the summer competition The first five winners appeared on the Channel 5 TV station during the editorial time giving their essays Sharon appeared three times on ThursShe was day September 10 1987 presented a $500 Savings Bond Sharon She has Congratulations also done herself proud during her high school years and was presented the Presidential Leadership Scholarship at Utah State which gives her tuition and fees for four years Orville and Hope Kimball have appreciated the help of their son Steve who flew into Salt Lake City from St Lewis MO Another son Kirk brought him on to Kanosh where Steve spent a week Kirk only spent the weekend as he had to return for work Another brother Monte drove Steve back to Salt Lake to catch his plane for home Millard County IN MEADOW Norma Gagon Phone: All of the family of the Joe Stott’s have visited here during the summer and fall Tony and Paula Stott and 3 children Gale and 2 of his children Sean and Jaclyn Kay and Wendy Van Joan’s and his daughter Stephanie sister Beth Tucker and her husband Keith and Roger even Sargent The men and boys and Paula helped Joe with harvesting and the farm work which was verymuch Many times I saw( Joan appreciated driving the big truck to help out the time spent enjoyed Everyone for together Stephanie had stayed on a while and Joe and Joan took her to Salt Lake and spent some rest time enSat On there members joying family Sept 5 they were pleased to haye Ron and Lisa Stewart and baby visit them we When September comes and automatically feel summer is over the Labor Day weekend is our last fling at summer There were several visitors in town for this happy time: Margery Horsley from Bountiful showed up to see her dad Gilbert Stott Roma Bird’s niece Gayla Gull who is taking some extended courses at the “Y” enjoyed her time here Ben and Laurel Stott looked happy to have Phil and Collette Mitchell and children in their home and about town I also saw the Gordon Hall’s daughter Julia and her children here As usual I’m sure there were others I did not see or hear about Just hope everyone had a good time I felt very lucky to have two weekends with children here Over Labor Day my daughter Lori was down from Murray and on the 12th my son David and his family came down from Sandy where they have just moved to a new home Having four young grandchildren all at once is a challenge though They were able to participate in our Ward and Town Dinner at the Meadow Park Saturday evening This was an outstanding event with delicious food served in a lovely setting If I thought four children was a house full Flora and Odell Steward had former Meadowites Craig and Becky SMith and nine children for over night when they came to attend the Mule Day activities Of course Flora is an old hand at feeding and
