Show On Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 21, i birthday dinner was given at Mr. Orson Or-son Calioon'a home In honor of John II. Kinder of Deseret. Last Sunday morning Miss Homer of M. S. A. gave a valuable and Instructive In-structive talk on Domestic Science to the parents and older classea In the Sunday School. Many helpful hints on food and sanitation were given In answer to questions asked by those present. Miss Homer was suffering at the time with a cold and on Monday and Tuesday was seriously 111 and confined con-fined to her bed requiring the attend-ance attend-ance of Dr. Hroaddus. Mrs Terry Is acting as her nurse. Lecture Recitals at the Academy. The Vlclrolu Concert was well attended at-tended and enthusiastically received. Musical taste seems to be slowly growing and Improving In Hinckley. At the request program of Nov. 22, Mrs. Itroaddus followed her usual custom cus-tom of employing the assistance of her more advanced pupils whenever possible, pos-sible, Miss Norma Moody, Miss Cora Robinson and Miss Norma Dunn on assisting as-sisting In piano selections as well a accompaniments. There will be no recital during Thanksgiving week. The decision of the school to have no vacation came too late to alter the lecture recital arrangements, ar-rangements, Dr. J. Sellers of Abraham, expect to leave Dec. 1G, for his Kastern home to spend the holidays and perhaps all wlni er. An Interesting musical program has been arranged at the Millard Stake Academy for the 2-Hh. There will bo vocal solos, duets and quartets; piano solos and duets, and musk by the orchestra or-chestra and the mandolin and guitar dub. He obtained the house from Albert Hale's place ami carried It on two wagon trucks with several teams to pull. In spile of the i I and the bridging of canals and ditches, he was able to get It to its presiyit location In about two days. Mr. Robert Reeve has been quite III the past week. NEWS OF OUR NEIGHBORS Gathered by the Editor in His Weekly Rounds With the return of our warm days and bright sunshine, all the machines have resumed threshing this week. John I lew simp's Heed house1, where the alfalfa seed Is cleaned and sacked, has been running full force for the past (wo weeks. The seed is said to be bringing about 12 cents a pound. Farly last week a carload of seed bought up for Hlackman & Crirfin by Dan Illack of Deseret, was shipped front Oasis. Seed from the farms of Al Damron, John Rogers, the F.rh k-son k-son brothers and others went Into the carload. The whole community is really crippled crip-pled for lac k of cash, and everyone is anxiously awaiting the more general sale of seed to loosen up the llnanclal tension. Many people are unable to collect from their debts enough ready cash to pay I heir taxes. This condition condi-tion surely cannot last long, although It seems to hold out later than last year. Prof. Henjamin duff of the M. S. A. gave a very iulerestlng talk to a large audience of the school children of Hinckley Thursday evening, Nov. Hi, in the Academy auditorium on the tropical forests and the people of Mexico. Mex-ico. Many grown people availed themselves them-selves of the opportunity to hear Prof. Cluff and felt well repaid for their attendance. at-tendance. On Friday evening a similar simi-lar talk was given in the Deseret school bouse lo an audience which tilled the two school rooms.
