Show G.O.P. Candidates Open Campaign In Beaver County With the regular and run-off primaries out of the way and the election campaign proper fast getting underway, Beaver county this week became the scene of operations op-erations for some of the big guns of the Republican party. Wednesday evening meetings were held in Milford', Minersville and Beaver, with Leroy B. Young of Ogden, Republican candidate for representative in congress, as the principal speaker. In Beaver, the speaker was Philo T. Farnsworth Farns-worth jr., a native of that city but now living in Salt Lake City, candidate can-didate for United States senator on the Republican ticket. Melvin C. Harris, Republican candidate for attorney g-eneral, was the principal speaker at Minersville, and other G. O. P. candidates in the county that day included O. Earl Thomas, candidate for state treasurer; Walter Day, candidate for state auditor; Durham Morris, candidate for distvict judge; and Udell Morris, candidate for district dis-trict judge. Mr. Morris and Mr. Jensen, who are residents of Cedar City and Nephi, respectvely, also spent considerable time in Milford Saturday, getting acquainted with individuals about town. iMi Young, who made a strong race for congressman against Abe Murdock two years ago and this year likely will be pitted against Walter K. Granger, formerly of Cedar City, made a spirited talk to local people and made a most favorable impression on most of those who were present, demonstrating demon-strating unmistakeably the quali ties of logic and expression which helped to make him a formidable candidate two years ago. Besides discussing national matters and the third term issue, Mr. Young flayed young Elliot Roosevelt, the president's son, for his appointment appoint-ment to the rank of captain in the air corps procurement division at a time when millions of other young Americans were preparing to register for prospective army service to take their places in the ranks with no such opportunity opportun-ity for preferment.
