Show SHALE RETARDING .'- DRILLERS AT WELL ARE UNDER-REAMING AT JAMES OIL WELL The James Oil well is at a level of 3320 feet and the drill is in shale. The shale was struck after drilling through about twenty feet of limestone. lime-stone. From shale, indications are that the formation will change back to limestone. Walter James state sthat they are under-reaming now in order to let the casing down' below the shale. They are in hopes of striking a formation soon which will hold the casing, but the shale is very cavey. It is thought however to be of slight depth. As soon as the water in the hole can be shut off properly by the casing, cas-ing, which depends much on the depth of the loose shale, the drillers expect to make much faster headway. |
