Show ASSESSMENT WORK ON MINING CLAIMS RUSHED LAST WEEK PROSPECTING OF FAVORABLE NATURE AT LARGER MINES Interest in Beaver county's mining industry has been very noticeable ' about town during the last few days. ! The final date for making assess-! assess-! ments on mining claims and submitting submitt-ing proof of labor came at the close of June, and a last-minute activity was evidenced, all occasioned by the sudden rise in the county's mine stock during the last few weeks. Chief among the mines to spring into the limelight, was the Magnolia Lead, where bodies of ore have been uncovered at different levels. While little mineral is beinp shipped from this mine, Superintendent Nebeker ! has been prospecting and is setting the stage for a good run of ore to be moved out later. Only the ore moved . j out in prospecting has been shipped. l Veins are uncovered at 175 and 300 I; foot lovels. The first was discovered ij on the 16th of June, and the latter r just a few days ago. New develop- ment work on the latter is now vmder-; vmder-; way, with very encouraging signs for I a consistently high grade ore. The i 175 foot vein lies sixty feet from the original big strike, and it is claimed j that a very high grade of commercial t ore will be moved out from this ! stope. With Mr. Nebeker at the ; mine, is A. E. Kipps, in the capacity ! of consulting geologist. ' . Much blasting has been heard about the mine region west and south of town, signs of fhe renewed interest in smaller claims, and last minute assessment as-sessment work. There is some talk of the Majestic starting up operations. All their acreage is paid up in taxes, over four thousand dollars being turned over to the county this spring from this company com-pany alone. The Moscow mine is doing do-ing well it is said, and are getting out considerable ore. Ore will not be in position to be moved to advantage from Magnolia until the present prospecting pros-pecting campaign is completed, although al-though what ore that is being removed for convenience is filling the bins at the mine. |
