Show NEVADA UTILITY MAGNATE DIES Alee Wynaught went to Salt Lake City last Saturday to attend the funeral of an old friend of the family, Edward W. Clark, pioneer utility magnate of the west, who died April 15 in Las Vegas, Nev., at the age of 75. Born in San Jose, Calif., in 1871, he moved to Nevada with his parents when six months of age. He entered both the banking and public utility businesses at an early age, and at the time of his death was acknowledged as one of the state's foremost leaders in both. He was appointed Democratic national committeeman in 1934, and was re-elected in 1936, 1940 and 1944. He was a member of the original orig-inal Nevada-Colorado river commission com-mission and with the late Sen. Key Pittman was credited with playing a major role in obtaining con-structon con-structon of Boulder Dam. He retained control of the Southern South-ern Nevada Power and Telephone company until the time of his death. |
