Show Funeral Held For Mrs. Lena Davis Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in the Minersville Min-ersville ward chapel for Mrs. Lena Davis, 78, widow of the late W. J. Davis, who died Saturday after an illness of some length. The services ser-vices were held" at. 1 o'clock under the direction of Counselor Clyde Hollingsheaff'of the ward bishopric. bishop-ric. The speakers were F. D. Williams Wil-liams of Minersville and former Bishop George H. feyre of South Milford. The invocation was offered of-fered by George Marshall jr. and the benediction "by former Bishop Charles K. Jameson, while Bishop Delos Baker offered the dedicatory prayer in the Minersville cemetery, ceme-tery, where burial took place. Musical Mu-sical numbers included a vocal duet by Sylva Davis and Vivian Marshall, violin music by Mr. and Mrs. Harold Baker, a vocal duet by 'Mrs. Aileen Jameson and Mrs. Elvereta Robinson and selections by the ward choir. Lena Colton Davis was born at Salt Lake City January 20, 1864, a daughter of Alonzo and Emma Colton. The family moved to Min. ersville when she was seven years old and there she grew to young womanhood. She was married to William J. Davis of Minersville and they had made their home there throughout their lifetime, Mr. Davis passing away in 1918. Both were active and respected citizens of the community and numbered their friends by the hundreds. Surviving Mrs. Davis are the following sons and daughters: Leon, James, and George Davis and Mrs. Laura Sherwood, all of Minersville; and two "half-sisters, Mrs. Mary Dalton of Minersville and Mrs. A. J. Lewis of Comp-ton, Comp-ton, California. V |
