Show THE JUBILEE The Woman's Relief Society Celebrates. Cele-brates. The Woman's Relief society was called j to order at ilio tabernacle at 10 o'eloek. i Thursday morning. March 17, 1892, Mrs. A L. Cox presiding. The houi.0 was nicely decorated. Over the stand, in painted letters, the wall Lore tho inscription "Relief Society. 1 12 picture if Joseph Sni.tb 1692." Around the words were placed other pictures and beneath was that of Eliz. K. Snow tx-preident of the relief society socie-ty throughout the world. The stand was decktd with red, white, and blue drapery and with iargo vases filled with dowers. Tiit (Xcii'ises were opened by the choic singing 'Via; e to the Man Who Communes With Jehovah!" followed by Councilor Warren S. Snow in the opening prayer. The choir sang "Oh My Father." President Rebecca Wareham delivered the opening address. She realized the privilege, enjoyed by reason of being able to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary. anniver-sary. Iu the early days the society had the benetit of the prophet's presence and encouragement ai d being taught by him. The lady also bord testimony in this divine mission and urged her Maters to press forward in the gospel. President Elizabeth Casio felt proud to he a member, and was thankful- for the privilege God had bestowed in her being able, to attend. Benediction by Bishop Jensen. NOTES. f The ' little tots" were out in fore. Good. Miss Dora Lowry and Mr. Clare Reid presided at the organ as accompanists. The committee having charge of the program was Mrs. Edith Larson, 1 and the Misses Ida Lowry and Maggie Fielding. Something will have to be done with the ungentlemanly and rude boys. They paid no respect to the commands of MayorJ Shomaker and President Maiben. They should be left outside of doors hereafter. .Miss Ida Lowry. Mrs. Mi nerva Snow praised the Lord that she was permitted to behold this jubilee. Also that she had been permitted per-mitted to receive instructions from the prophet at Nauvoo, and hoped the society would continue to grow. Sarali Tuttle bore her testimony to the divine miesion of the martyred prophe', and exhorted the sisters to greater dilligence that they might receive re-ceive exaltatiou and eternal life in his presence. Singing, "Oil, Give Me Back My Prophet Dear." President John B. Maiben was deeply impressed with the prophetic character of Prophet Joseph Smith, by the glorious glori-ous re.-ult of h's labors in the good work accomplished by tha Woman's Relief tociety. Bishop ILiiis Jensen was pleased to ueet with the sisters aud brothers in jiibiiee as-embled. He dwelt at length on the good work accomplished by the ladies -f the society and invoked divine bltfwini's upon their efforts. Bishop William T. Reid thought any man having a heart to feel and a tongue to speak was always prepared to say something on such an occasion, the subject sub-ject v,is worthy of the best effort one could put in sentiment. The society was necessary to complete the organization organiza-tion of thejj church, and compared tho form r status of woman with the po-ition she now enjoys. High Councilor A. J. Moflitt exhorted j the V'lintr people to emulato the ex-! ample of the venerable sisters who had spoken. Presiden James Wareham had been acquainted with the inspired man who had organized the relief society, and fell thankful to view the results ef his labors as shown upon this heroic occasion. oc-casion. He bore testimony to the divinity divin-ity of the gofpel. Singiug, "Daughter of Zion," and prayer by President Maiben. (iood order prevailed, and the services were lolemn and impressive. AFTERNOON SESSION. At the close of the morning session Mayor shomaker and others cleared the tabernacle from cenches aud a banquet was set with a seating capacity for 250. The committee o ladies of the relief society, nnder the leadership of Mrs. Susan Witbeek and Mrs. , Cathrine Blown, and aided by the young lady members, ai ranged the tables. 1'resident Maiben, Rishop Reid, Bishop Jensen and President Wareham were seated at the head of the tables and were followed by the officers of the' relief 'ociety.members of the high coun-j cil, ttiuplo workers, tabernacle ehoir, old pmple over 70, aud !hen the remainder re-mainder if tho society and invited guest:-. The old people too infirm to attend were held iu remembreuee. During the progress ..f the banquet Mr.". Spicer and sinter, iliss Etta Vor-he-H, g ive a pleasing duet. Asuipri.-e was successfully planned to eiirpri-e tho ladies who hold the presidency of the two corps of the city, mid ;.iiH. R-beeea Wareham aud Mrs. Elizabeth Casio were each presented with a queen anue rocker. The presents j were made in affectionate speeches by Mrs. Abide Shomaker and Mrs. Cuthriue Brown, t he two ladies were overcome and smiies and tears were present in receiving the gifts from their respective focieties. Then tame music by the guitar and harmonica band, well received, and the afternoon passed away all loo rapidly to ilniso present. The committee hav-incr hav-incr charge of the program crowned theiiifelvcs with glory in the EVENING PROGRAM. , At S o'clock a large concourse had . gathered in the tabernacle. Nearly , every teat was filled, and Mrs. A. L. I Co- presided.
