Show City Fathers. The, council met Monday evening, March 14, pnrsuant to adjournment. Mayor Shomaker was present as weie all the council and clerk. The minutes were read and approved. Dr. Stacey, in behalf of Tattle & Stacey representing an Insurance company, com-pany, petitioned to have their license mi dified. Referred to tho committee on laws with power to frame an ordinance. ordi-nance. Mr. Jones, a life insurance agent, wished to know whether or not a license shoold be paid by him to do business here. Referred. A petition of W. G. Craw ford, asking a ditch nsed for irrigating purposes be charged, which runs by his premises was referred to the committee on irrigation. irri-gation. The chairman of the irrigation committee com-mittee reported he had notified Sir. James Marker where to place tie Lins of his premises on City creek. Also, the cost of fixing up City creek was estimated estimat-ed at 530 dollars, aud the South hollow at 410 dollars. The report was acreot ed and the committee was ordered to advertisa for bids to rrake these, improvements, im-provements, bids to be received until the evening of March 19, aud report results at the next regular session. The chairman also reported work was necessary to convey water to the south part of town during the building of the divider. The water master was instructed in-structed to supply the demand. The chairman of the committee ou water works reported on the petition of William Lowiy re.ommending it be granted: To lay mains as petitioned by John Lowry and J. R. Mndsen. It recommended in future, when aDpli-cants aDpli-cants are permitted to take water from the Pioneer Water Works company's mains person must also pay their proportion pro-portion of taxes toward extending the city's mains. Tbe work of running the above new mains for the water company com-pany is to be performed under the direction di-rection of the proper city officers. The same committee reported oa the petition of Louis C. Kjar and others, extending a wa er main along First Sonth street, district No. 24. that it would cost 830 dollars. Notice was ordered oublishcd. The chairman of the auditing committee com-mittee reported they had examined the city recorder's books, accounts and stubs, had compared them with those kept by ihe treasurer, and had found it all correct. cor-rect. The report was accepted. Mayor Sbomaker in behalf of the special committee, reported the committee com-mittee purchased 501CO acrs of land (rora George Bench for tbe improvement improve-ment of City creek. Consideration t3t3 40. Deeds were filed. The remonstrance of E. M. Works ana others was defined regarding the extension exten-sion of water mains on the west side. The bill of the special auditing committee com-mittee was then allowed in the sum of 8 dollars, and the council adjourned with a benidiction by Councilor Bessey. |
