Show iCases in the District Curt At the continuation of the case of the state vs. Hyrum and T. S. Karren in the First district court '.Vednesday morning, a number of witnesses were examined on each side. Mrs. Glover corrob-I corrob-I orated the statements, of Mrs. Ruiney the day before, whereas j the defendants both denied them. The case went' to the jury Wednesday evening, who returned shortly afterward with a verdict of not guilty for Tt S. Karren and guilty against Hyrum Hy-rum Karren. Mr., Karren was on Thursday sentenced by Judge Chidester to pay a fine of $150. Some surprise was BAprosseu at tne severity or the sentence, and especially at the court's statement that he made the tine higher than'ordi nary because of the fact that the state had been put to considerable consider-able expense in the matter thus making the defendant pay for expense not of his own causing.
