Show TERRITORIAL TALK. OGDEN has got street lamps.

SALT Lake was never so busy as now.

THE residents of Utah's capital were favored last week with a few days of good sleighing.

SEVERAL new mining companies have recently been organized.

LEAD is worth $65 a ton.

THE proprietors of the Ogden Junction will issue a mammoth New Year edition of that valuable paper. The sheet will contain more information with regard to the natural resources and the industries of Utah, than has ever before been complied in such a shape.

SALT Lake is having some more "Pinafore."

FROM THE JUNCTION: A special to the Junction, from Bingham, announces the death of Fred. Gilmer, brother of Jack Gilmer, by a premature blast in the Stewart mine. He is widely known throughout the Territory, and his death will cause sorrow wherever it is known.

BEFORE us is a pamphlet containing the organization and objects of the Utah Game and Fish Protective Society, the latter being set forth in the preamble, which is as follows: Whereas, it is found necessary for the preservation of Fish and Game, that no association should exist for the protection of the same by legal means; for encouraging the propagation thereof; for influencing, so far as practicable, the enactment of such further laws and ordinances as may be needful to accomplish those ends; for enforcing those laws; and generally for attending to and guarding such matters and interests as may pertain thereto; and, Whereas, this society has been formed for the furtherance of these objects, it hereby adopts the following as its Constitution; Here follows the constitution. Following are the officers of the Society: John Sharp, Jr., President; Bolivar Roberts, Vice President; L. S. Hills, Secretary and Treasurer. Board of directors-M. H. Walker, Geo. [George] A. Meears, LeGrand Young, H. J. Richards, Salt Lake City; W. W. Cluff, Coalville, Summit County; Albert Miles, ??, Summit County; Aaron Farr, Logan, Cache County; W. B. Richards, Mendon, Cache Co.; W. P. Nebeker, Laketown, Rich Co.; John Adams, Corinne, Box Elder, Co.; Wm. [William] Segmiller, Richfield, Sevier Co.; Joel Grover, Nephi, Juab Co.; J. W. Turner, Provo, Utah Co.; Jos. [Joseph] B. Porter, Porterville, Morgan Co. This Society supplies a long needed want in this Territory. The destruction of fish every year is an evil which has attained enormous proportions; but in the absence of some one whose duty required personal intervention, the law for the punishment of the offense has not been enforced. We hope the remedy is now at hand, and look to see it vigorously applied. Success to the Society!

FROM THE ENQUIRER: A man by the name of Wm. [William] Shapley, while coming from the Samson mine to Park city, fell down in the snow and in a few moments expired. A coroner's inquest was held soon after and a verdict of death from pneumonia, over-exertion and excitement was rendered. |
