Show CELEBRATION OF THE TWENTY-FOURTH. Owing to the fact that a grand Territorial celebration is to be given in Salt Lake City next Saturday, and for some other reasons, the enthusiasm of the people here will not find vent in any grand commemoration of the days of '47. But a pleasant little affair has been inaugurated under the auspices of the Sunday schools; and we have no doubt of a complete success. In pursuance of a notice previously given at a meeting was held last Saturday night; and it was decided that the programme for the day should be as follows: At 9 o'clock in the morning the pupils of several schools will meet at their respective ward assembly rooms, from there to march immediately in regular order to the Logan Tabernacle. At the latter place at 10 o'clock the congregation will be called to order; and some time will then be occupied with the presentation of songs, instrumental music, recitations, speeches, &c (etc.). In the afternoon a party will be given at the bowery and those who attend will probably have an opportunity to dance to their entire content. It is to be hoped that all who have an interest in seeing the day properly celebrated will attend the Tabernacle and witness the interesting exercises, and also the party at the bowery. |
