SPEND those coupons to best advantage. SEND for those cash refunds on a regular basis. Last week I reviewed a little bit about seeing and saving every coupon, and refund form that you find. Now that you have done that what do you have? I know, coupons, and refund slips all over the house. Your husband is beginning to complain about the mess. You are either going to have to find a way to organize this mess or move out. That is why the SORT part of the system is so important. Personally, I think this is the most important part of the system. Of course if you dont SEE and SAVE them in the first place, you wont have the mess; but if you dont sort them and see what you have when you want and need them, saving even thousands of these things wont do you any good. So you must set up a system of filing in order to see at a glance just what you have on hand. I use large envelopes and small boxes. The envelopes, of course, are for the small items like refund slips and coupons and the boxes are for the larger, bulky items like cardboard LAYTON The former Miss Tina March 29. I use a lot of those heavy rubber bands like the post office uses for this purpose. Now that you have saved everything and have them all filed away neatly so your family doesnt feel as though either they have to go or the papers do, it is time to organize a method of making these items work for you. You dont want to have to spend several hours a day going through them to find what you need. This makes work of the system and it neednt be. You know from your own experience which items you use the most and how you can file them to fit your memory pattern. I might put a laundry soap box under laundry products. It might be more memory tickling for you to file it under "cleaners along with scouring powders, bleach, etc. What Im saying is, find your own method, one that is easy and comfortable for you, that you can utilize quickly and easily. KEEP THE FILING CURRENT! If you are looking for coupons and refund offers continuously, you will be wanting to add to your supply every day. File these as soon as possible, at least once a week at the longest. This is especially true of the boxes and cartons because due to their bulk they accumulate the fastest. Also take at least an hour a week and soak the labels from bottles or plastic containers. Just a little reminder here when you do this, be sure that you lay these soaked off labels GLUE SIDE UP on a cloth towel (not paper towel) to dry. One lady I know put hers glue side paper towel and then when she had to cut around the dried, they label because it had stuck to the paper towel. Another put hers on the front of her refrigerator to dry and then had an awful time getting them off. This brings another thought to mind How do you save the containers like powdered chocolate when the name is printed right in the container? Usually the only thing you can save is the inner seal directly under the lid or pasted under the lid to the top of the can or jar. Well, I hope these reminders help even a little bit. Next week, I will try to answer some more questions that I have received.
