Show Lisa Willman goes up for two points during competition against Jordan last week. The Lady Reds defeated both Jordan and Hurricane. Lady Reds win two, beat Tigers, Jordan CEDAR CITY - The Cedar High School Lady Reds extended their winning streak last week by defeating the Hurricane Tigers and the Jordan High Beetdiggers. Against the Tigers the Lady Reds dominated the first quarter with some hot shooting. They led 15-6. 15-6. The Tigers managed to pull together in the second quarter and fight back to be down by two at 27-25. The real action took place in the final quarter of the match with both teams battling fpr the lead. The Lady Reds managed to pull it off however, winning 50-41. Leading the Lady Reds were sophomore Paula Sawyer who tossed in 20 points and senior Lisa Willman who scored 13. This was the first game for both teams and coach Laura Bailey was pleased. "The older experienced players did very well showing their talent. The younger kids will have the game smarts after a few more games." The Lady Reds also faired well against the Beetdiggers in another closely battled game. Paula Sawyer once again led the team with 16 points. The Reds utilized a fast break offense to lead at the half 20-17. The Lady Reds came back to fight a close defensive game with Jordan just managing to slip by with a 40-35 win. |
