Show NATIVE OF CEDAR New Manager Named At Local Bank ... V. " FRANCIS W. BETENSON Announcement of two changes In the management of Cedar City branch of First Security Bank of Utah, N. A., were made this week by Max Thomas, sen. ior vice president, who Is In charge of the bank's offices In Southern Utah. Francis W. Betenson has been promoted to manager at Cedar City, to succeed Arthur Gardner, who is retiring from active duty with the bank. Herman Anderson and Eldon Schmutz wll continue to serve In their capacities as assistant managers of the local bank. Walter Hansink will continue as manager of the Tlmeway Depart ment Mr. Betenson is a native of Cedar Ce-dar City and served as city treasurer trea-surer between 1943 and 1943. He Is a graduate of Utah State Agricultural College where he majored In accounting. Following Follow-ing graduation In 1941 he spent four years In the United States Air Force. In 1948 he joined the Bank of Southern Utah and was elected assistant cashier five years later. Since the first of the year he has held the title of assistant as-sistant manager of the First Security Se-curity Bank of Utah. Mr. Betenson Beten-son has been active in the American Amer-ican Legion for the past 10 years. He has served as treasurer of the Iron County Red Cross for five vears. He Is currently a member mem-ber of the city planning commission, commis-sion, chairman of the county savings sav-ings bond committee, and has been ward clerk and assistant ward clerk since 1943. He and Mrs. Betenson. the former Ruth Berry, have three children. Mr. Gardner first entered banking bank-ing at Provo, becoming cashier of the Iron County Commercial and Savings Bank at Cedar City, and later assistant cashier and cashier of the Bank of Southern Utah. In addition to his active career car-eer in banking which Includes service on the executive committee commit-tee of the Utah Bankers Asocia-tion, Asocia-tion, Mr. Gardner has taken an active part In civic affairs. He has served as city treasurer for two terms, and as president ol the Chamber of Commerce. He has also been very active in church affairs and as a chattel member of the Garden Club, and Is a most successful grower ol fine roses. |
