Show Diane Cooley Becomes Bride in Double-Ring Wedding Saturday, April 19 was the date and the St. George Temple was the setting for the exchange of marriage vows of a popular Ce dar City couple. In a double ring ceremony performed per-formed by President Harold S. Snow Miss Diane Cooley became Mrs. Laurence Ashdown. The new Mrs. Ashdown is a 'laughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hazen Cooley and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Ashdown. Following tho temple excursion excur-sion the Ashdowns entertained the wedding party at a dinner at Dick's Cafe In St. George. 'Saturday evening parents of the bride honored the couple at a reception held at the Cedar Stake House. The bride was radiant In a gown of taffeta, lace and tulle, made by her mother. The bodice was lace over taffeta and clrcu- . ' v.; , r, ' . EXCHANGE VOWS. Popular Cedar City Couple exchanged exchang-ed vows Saturday, April 19 in the St. George Temple. They are Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Ashdown. The lovely bride is the former Diane Cooley. Both are from Cedar City. lar tiers of tulle o r taffett drop- (ped from the waist. Her veil of tulle and fingertip length was caught to a crown embroidered with pearls. She carried a corsage cor-sage of pink and white- rose buds. Attending the bride as matron of honor was Mrs. Kenneth Simkins. Sim-kins. Maid of honor for the nuptial nup-tial occasion was Celestia Ashdown, Ash-down, sister of the bridegroom. Bridesmaids were Miss Nellene Parry, Miss Marva Carter, Miss Shirley Graff and Miss Jeri Smith. Petite Bonlta Cooley, sister of the bride, served as flower girl. The couple are now honeymooning honey-mooning In California after mak ing a brief stop over at Las Vegas, Nev. Laurence will leave early In May to report to the Air Force for a three-year tour of duty. He will be assigned at MIsawa Air Force Base in Japan and is due to report on May 18. The new Mrs. Ashdown will follow as soon as housing accommodations can be arranged. Both are graduates of the Cedar Ce-dar City High School where she was active In dancing and dramatics dra-matics and Laurence was prominent prom-inent In athletics at the school. Laurence also graduated from College of Southern Utah and the Utah State University at Logan Lo-gan and is currently employed 'with the Columbia Iron Minlng Company in the department of( enginering. He will enter the' Air Force as a result of his ROTC committment. ' |
