A Bryant Funeral services were held In the First Ward Chapel Monday afternoon afternoon afternoon after after- noon for James Andrew Bryant 72 who died suddenly Friday night while attending the boxing bouts In the American Legion arena Although Although Although Al Al- though Mr Bryant had been In poor health for the past two years ears he was apparently feeling alright when he be left home for the boxing bouts During the main event he slumped down friends thinking at first that he had merely fallen asleep however he be had died al almost almost almost al- al most Instantly from a stroke Mr Bryant was a pioneer in Cedar City and had taken an active part In many community betterment betterment betterment better better- I ment programs and h In civic life He was one of the founders of the Branch Dranch Agricultural College having hayIng hay hav hav 1 I ing been one of the men to go Into the mountains to get out lumber for the first building He lie also did I much work In the earlier days of Cedar City In the way of caring for the sl sick k and helping to nurse patients In the homes of the com corn A plumber by trade he did the plumbing work In many of Cedar City's public and private buildings He was city marshal from 1907 to 1909 and had been custodian custodian custodian custo custo- dian of the public library building since It was first constructed Mr Bryant was In charge of fitting when Cedar City's first culinary water system was Installed Mr Bryant was born In St. St Louis Louison on September 25 1864 a son of Hannah and Thomas Bryant He came caine to Utah with his parents when 14 years of age He married Jane Jones of Enoch on October 15 1885 In the St. St George Temple The deceased Is survived by his widow and the following sons and daughters Arthur Orson J J.
