Indications That the United States Troops Are Pushing the Campaign Cam-paign Vigorously The Transport Siam Encounters a Typhoon and Many Mules Are Lost. . Manila Oct. 6. General Fred Grant, with three companies of the Fourth infantry, two companies of the Fourteenth Four-teenth infantry and a band of scouts attached to the former regiment, advanced ad-vanced from Imus this morning, driving driv-ing the insurgents from the entire west I bank of the Imus river. ' Three Americans Amer-icans were wounded. It is estimated that ten of the Filipinos were killed. Companies C and II, with the scouts, crossed the river at the big bend and advanced westward in the direction of the Bincayan road, the insurgents firing fir-ing volleys, but retiring. Twenty Fili pinos were discovered in trenches at the Bincayan church, about midway between Bacoorand Cavite Viejo. These were routed, six being killed. I Riley's battery of the Fifth artillery made an effective sortie about a mile south of Bacoor and :shelled the west bank of the river at close range. That bank is now held by the Americans. Many Mules Lost. The Siam, which left Honolulu thirty-one thirty-one days ago, encountered the typhoons ! early this week. One lasted forty hours. Most of the forage, which was 'on deck, was swept overboard, all the boats were smashed in and the steamer rolled tremendously tre-mendously in the trough of the sea, .although the officers made every effort to bring her about. The mules were hurled from side to side and frightfully mangled and disemboweled. dis-emboweled.
