Show Imay .opes all schools It was determined at a special meeting meet-ing of the board of health yesterday that the necessity has ceased to exist for keeping day and Sunday schools closed or open under restrictions to the unvaccinated during the threatened epidemic of smallpox. The school board was ordered officially of the health, board's action and to Sunday school superintendents su-perintendents notice by publication in j the newspapers was deemed sufficient. ! The reasons for the action determin- f ed upon by the health board are set forth in a resolution adopted to the following effect: "Whereas, The Salt Lake City board of health, after careful consideration of the public health and the conditions with reference to smallpox in this city, all cases having been strictly quaran- ' tined and sufficient time having elapsed to justify the belief that all fear of in- f fection from these sources has passed, ; and stricter quarantine having been j established by the outlying districts; t therefore, be it "Resolved. That this board recommends recom-mends to the board of education that ' the public schools may safely be opened 4 without restriction on Monday, Feb. 5, f 1900, provided there Is no further ap- pearance of the disease." Another resolution of similar purport S was adopted to relieve the embargo jj against the holding of Sunday school ; sessions in this city. ' The health board's action will he i sufficient warrant to the board of ed- ucation to reopen the school3 Monday morning to all comers whether vacci- I nated or not, but the appeal to the su- . preme court in the Cox mandamus case j will be prosecuted, nevertheless, in or- der to finally determine for future exl- I gencies whether the unvaccinated pu- pil3 shall, at the direction of the health board, be excluded from attending the I public schools. |
