Show j DEATH OF MRS. KATE MAYER. ! Mrs. Kate Mayer, aged 07 years, widow of the late Joseph A. Mayer, died at her residence, 476 West First South street, at 10 o'clock Saturday evening after an illness of four weeks. Death was the. result or ulceration of the stomach. CATHERINE MAYERS. was there at the time of the palmy days of the Comstock. She was a pioneer in other mining- camps of the west. Fourteen years ago she moved to Salt Lake. The deceased was the mother oC Mrs. E. A. Wall and Mrs. R. Cunningham of Salt Lake, Mrs. William Dunham of Arizona, Mrs. H. Palmer of Idaho and Andrew Mayer of Bingham. The funeral occurred on Wednesday morning from St. Mary's cathedral. Rev. Father Kiely. who was a personal person-al friend of the deceased, celebrated I the requiem mass and preached the funeral sermon. In his brief remarks, Father Kiely presented the comforts of religion, happily hap-pily ensuring the peace of the soul de-patted de-patted and arousing- the hopes of those left to continue their pilgrimage to the i grave. The priest drew a picture of the life of the departed as he knew her in Ophir, where she was an object lesson les-son for good example, charity and affection. af-fection. Their hearts are heavy with grief, but they have tne consolation of knowing- that their dear one passed peacefully away to the beauty of eternal life, to earn the reward promised to the just.
