Show The public edifice which greets the eye of the I ever present tourist in Salt Lake City is the mag-f mag-f niflcent city and county building. II It occupies the center of Washington Square, H a ten-acre block, bordering on the business center II of the city, which is tastily decorated with unique II designs of flower beds, nestled in the midst of well I kept lawns, shaded with a wealth of carefully I tiimmed foliage. The building is a model of ar- tistic triumph, its walls of gray sandstone, and its ' H interior artistically finished with Utah onyx. f H It was erected in the early years of the 90's, 'H and cost nearly one million dollars. There is not a H public building west of the Great Lakes which can w H rival it from an artistic point of view, and it was S H built to withstand the ravages of time. $ ' H i 'M |
