An ordinance levying a tax and for tho assessment of proporty on both , sides of R street, from South Temple street to Fourth street, in Sewer District Dis-trict No. 1, for the construction of a sower. Bo It ordained by the City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah. Section 1. That tho City Council does hereby levy the tax and provide for tho assessment of tho same upon the property hereinafter described in lots Nos. 2 and 3, block 4; 1 and 4, block 5: 1 and 4, block 12; 2 and 3, block 13; 2 and 3, block 20; 1 and 4, block 21; 1 and 4, block 28, and 2 and 3, block 29, plat "G," Salt Lake City survey, abutting on both sides of R street, from South Templo streot to Fourth street, in Sewer District No. 1, said property having a frontage of 2,040 feet along said street. This tax Is levied to defray tho ex-ponso ex-ponso of constructing a vitrified pipe sower- eight inches in dlamoter upon said portion of said street opposite the proporty hereinafter described to bo especially affected and benefited by said improvement, and It is hereby adjudged, ad-judged, determined and established that tho same will bo especially benefited bene-fited thereby to tho full amount of the tax hereby levied, and said parcels of land are hereby assessed at an equal and uniform rato In accordance with the. linear foot frontage upon said portion por-tion of said streot fronting upon and to a depth of twenty-flvo (25) feet back therefrom, and tho tax hereby levied and to bo assessed upon said parcels of land Is one thousand eight hundred apd forty-eight ($1,848.00) dollars, or 70-100 ($.70) dollars per front or linoar foot, which is tho estimated es-timated total cost and estimated cost por front foot of said sower, and tho treasurer is hereby authorized and directed di-rected to assess in accordanco with tho provisions of this ordinance for tho purpose heroin mentioned, all of lots 2 and 3, block 4; all of lots 1 and 4, block 5; nil of lots 1 and 4, block 12; all of lots 2 and 3, block 13; all of lots 2 and 3, block 20; all of lots 1 and 4, block 21; nil of lots 1 and 4, block 28, and all of lots 2 and 3, block 29, plat "G," Salt Lake City survey, as tho same are shown upon tho official plats of said city to a depth of twonty-flve twonty-flve (25) feet back from said street, and to collect said tax. . Sec. 2. Said tax shall become and bo delinquent in six equal installments, install-ments, as follows, towit: One-sixth thereof shall become and bo dellnquont ono month after tho approval of this ordinance; ono-sixth thereof in one year after such approval; one-sixth ( thereof in two years aftor such ap proval; ono-sixth thereof In throe years aftor such approval; ono-sixth thereof I in four years after such approval, and one-sixth thereof in flvo yorxrs aftor such approval. An Ordinance Ropealing and Ro-on-acting Section 355, Chapter XXVI of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, Utah, which reads- as follows, after the words Tho Land and Water Commissioner shall-have such doputies, at such compensation as tho City Council Coun-cil may from tlmo to time allow: Be It Ordained by tho City- Council of Salt Lake City, Utah: Article 1. That Section 355 of Chap-tor Chap-tor XXVI of tho Revised Ordinances of Salt Lako City, bo and tho same is hereby repealed and re-enacted so as to read as follows: Section 355. Tho Land and Water Commissioner shall have power, subject sub-ject to tho approval of the City Council, Coun-cil, to appoint tho following named deputies and assistants: Ono Office Deputy, at a salary of Nine Hundred Dollars por nnnum. Ono Patrolman, with horse, for City Crook Canyon, at a salary of $2.50 per day, whoso duty it shall bo to keep the canyon clear of all rubbish and rofuso, and to patrol tho same, each day to the Divide, from tho first day of March until tho first day of Docemtor of each year. Ono Patrolman, with horse, for Parley's Par-ley's Canyon, at a salary of Nino Hundred Hun-dred Dollars per annum, whose duty it shall bo to keep tho canyon and creek freo of all rubbish and debris, and whose duty It shall bo to live at tho station in Parley's Canyon from the first day of March until tho first day of December of each year. One Ranchman, with horse, to live in the canyon and look aftor tho ranches and building in Parley's Canyon and Mountain Dell, and to keep tho creek open during tho winter, In tho unner part of tho canyon, at a salary of Nine Hundred Dollars per annum. One Foreman, and two men with horses, for Jordan and Salt Lako Canal, at a salary of $2J30 per day each. Any additional labor that emergencies emergen-cies may require. Such salaries shall bo paid as are tho salaries of other City employees. Article 2. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to tho extent of such conflict. COMPENSATION. Tno Mayor shall, by and with tho ad-vico ad-vico and consont of tho Council, appoint, ap-point, during tho term for which ho is oloctod, a Bonrd of Hoalth, consisting of a Hoalth Commissioner, who shall bo a graduate of a reputable medical college, and two other citizens. The Mayor shall bo ox-olllclo chairman of tho Board. Tho compensation of onch member of tho Bonrd of Hoalth (exclusive (ex-clusive of tho Mayor and tho Hoalth Commissioner) Is hereby fixed at flvo ($5.00) dollars for each mooting at- , tended. Jhe Hoalth Commissioner shall receive as compensation, In full for all services rendered tho City, a salary of twelve hundred ($1,200.00) dollars por annum, payablo monthly as aro tho salaries sal-aries of other City officer.
