Show (Hirea Obituaries Alverda Spencer Liston ESCALANTE Alverda Spencer Spen-cer Liston, 96, of Escalante, died Oct. 5, 2000 in Panguitch. She was born Dec. 29, 1903 in Escalante Esca-lante to Orson and Alice Francis Griffin Spencer. She married Wil-ford Wil-ford Harvey Liston, Nov. 23, 1927 in Salt Lake City. The marriage was solemnized Apr. 4, 1950, in the Manti LDS Temple. He died Aug. 14, 1991. She was an active member of the LDS Church for many years working in the Primary and the Relief Society. She was a chorister for many years. She and her sister, Veda, sang at dances and in church and funerals. She sang with the Singing Mothers. One of the highlights high-lights of her life was singing in the Tabernacle at LDS General Conference. Confer-ence. She enjoyed the out-of-doors, gardening, canning, traveling and crocheting. She is survived by a son, Lane S. (Geraldine) Liston of Escalante; five grandchildren; 15 greatgrandchildren; great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Marie Liston of Panguitch; sister-in-law, Nelda Spencer of Escalante. She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; sons, Donald and Lynn W.; brother, Maitland, sisters, sis-ters, Veda (Eldred) Mitchell, Cora Spencer. Funeral services were held on Monday, Oct. 9, 2000 in the Escalante Esca-lante LDS Stake Center, with Bishop Wade Barney officiating. . The family prayer was offered by Garlan Mitchell, a nephew and prelude and postlude music was played by Areola Gates, a niece. The invocation was pffered by Jennifer Liston, a great-granddaughter great-granddaughter and a history was given by Marie Liston, a daughter-in-law. Emilee Liston, a great-granddaughter, great-granddaughter, sang "Close Enough To Touch," and tributes were given' by Gary Lane Liston, a grandson . PANGUITCH Funeral services serv-ices for Freda Talbot were held Thusday, Oct. 5, 2000 at the Panguitch Pan-guitch 2nd Ward LDS Chapel, with Bishop Michael Tebbs officiating. The family prayer was offered by Douglas R. Talbot and prelude, and postlude music was provided by the Panguitch 4th Ward Choir, accompanied ac-companied by Barbara Heaton and directed by Maurietta Syrett. . The invocation was offered by Basil Gilger. The Panguitch 4th Ward Choir sang "How Great Thou Art," and tributes to mom were given by Arda Cox, Opal Cripe and Meladean Carter. Grandchildren and greatgrandchildren great-grandchildren sang a medley of Primary songs, accompanied by Traci Shumway, Michelle Black and Brandi Cripe. William H. Remarks were made by Bishop Wade Barney and Geraldine Liston, Deon Alvey, and Marlene Haws sang "Hair Of Silver, Heart of Gold," accompanied by Areola Gates. The benediction was offered by Theron Mitchell, a nephew. Pallbearers were grandsons Gary Lane Liston and Glenn Liston; grandson-in-laws David Larsen, David Owens, and Danny Meisen-bach; Meisen-bach; great-grandsons Garrett Owens, Mitchell Owens, Brady Glen Owens, Spencer John Larsen, Nathan David Larsen, Daniel Meis-enbach, Meis-enbach, and Shane Meisenbach. Honorary pallbearers were granddaughters. Burial was in the Escalante Cemetery and the dedication dedica-tion of the grave was offered by David Owens, a grandson-in-law. Compassionate services were rendered by the Escalante LDS First Ward Relief Society sisters. Funeral directors: Neal S. Ma-gleby Ma-gleby & Sons Mortuary, Richfield. Pallbearers were Roger Cox, Al Cripe, Kevin Carter, Ryan Talbot, Brayton Talbot, Clinton Cripe, Lance Cox, Steven Talbot, Elder Blaine Cox (New Jersey-Morristown Jersey-Morristown LDS Mission), and Roger Linford. James Morgan Mclnelly ESCALANTE James Morgan Mor-gan Mclnelly, 82, of Escalante, passed away Oct. 5, 2000, at his home in Escalante. He was born Nov. 15, 1917, in Escalante, to Arthur Oliver and Mary Cecilia Richards Mclnelly. He married Millie Mil-lie Lyman, Feb. 2, 1942, in Flagstaff, Flag-staff, Ariz. The marriage was solemnized sol-emnized in the St. George LDS Temple, Apr. 28, 1951. She preceded pre-ceded him in death May 29, 1994. James quit school in the 8th grade to work and help support his' family. He worked alongside his father, as a carpenter, where he learned his family trade of carpentry and hauling freight in and out of Escalante. Soon after his marriage to Millie, Mil-lie, they moved to Layton where he was drafted into the Army, returning return-ing home after six weeks with a medical discharge. Their first child was born soon after his return and the young family moved back to Escalante. James spent the remainder remain-der of his life in Escalante except for three years in Page, Ariz., while working on the Glen Canyon Dam. James helped build the original LDS South Ward Church in Escalante Esca-lante and years later helped to remodel re-model it into the Stake Center. He helped to build the sawmill originally and then twice helped to rebuild it, along with a service station sta-tion and many Escalante homes. James enjoyed hunting, fishing, tinkering in his wood shop, and helping on the farm. He could be seen riding his four-wheeler all hours of the day and night. He was preceded in death by wife, Millie; children: Elma, Ross Morgan, and Susart; sisters, Ora (Al) Soper, Delma Reynolds; brothers: Arthur, Frank, D. Worth and Gren. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Oct. 11, in the Escalante Esca-lante LDS Stake Center with burial ' in the Escalante Cemetery.' Funeral directors: Neal S.
