ALL ABOARD! Our Brace Caboose is now making life easier for our patients in outlying communities: Beaver, Bicknell, Circleville, Delta, Ephraim, Fillmore, Gunnison, Manti, Milford, Monroe, Panguitch and Salina. On days we're in the mobile office, our office phone is forwarded to us, so we can still be reached. 1-888-BRACEME LETTER TO THE EDITOR Dear Editor: As someone who doesn't have the privilege of driving down Main Street Tropic every day, the changes which have taken place over the past year have likely been more shocking to me than to those who have experienced the changes on a daily basis. Some of these changes I have liked, some I have not. A change in the latter category has recently taken place on the northeast corner of Center and Main. As I write I do not intend this to be taken as coming from one who wishes her home town to forever remain the same as it was when she graduated. I think development of the town should be encouraged; however, I also feel that development should take into account the character of the town and the wishes of its citizens. My understanding is the original plan for development of this parcel included conversion of he house remaining on the plot into a museum dedicated to the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. I am unaware of the particular circumstances which resulted in the change to this plan, and the subsequent demolition of the house, but my concern is that it demonstrates a determination to disregard the wishes of Tropic citizens. Public buildings are not pet projects, but a part of the community as a whole. Whatever development takes place will affect the character of the town for as long as the buildings stand. Therefore, care should be taken to ensure that whatever changes take place will be such that the town can be proud of them. Tropic has an individual character. This individuality is not developed by giving into pressure to make our town just like everybody else. I only ask that in plans for future development we be true to ourselves and our heritage by respecting our town character and its citizens by encouraging community input, respecting past agreements, and facilitating the free flow of information on both sides.
