Show RED CROSS FUND DRIVE SET FOR DUCHESNE AREA APRIL 1-5 What can the American Red Cross do fbr you and your family? In 1965 the Red Cross collected collect-ed 174 pints of blood in Duchesne Duch-esne County, There were 234 pints of blood sent to the Roosevelt Roose-velt hospital to be available as needed. There were 97 pints of blood replaced in Salt Lake hospitals for Duchesne County residents. There isn't an accurate figure to the large amount of Serum Albumin, Gamma Globulin, Globu-lin, Fibrinogen, Vaccinia Immune Globulin, and Fresh Frozen Plasma used by Duchesne County residents, due to the Duchesne County residents, going to specialists in Salt Lake. Blood isn't wasted by the Red Cross. Fifty-five percent of a pint of blood goes to plasma, where we get Serum Albumin, Gamma Globulin, Fibrinogen, Vaccina Immune Globulin and Fresh Frozen Plasma. Two percent goes for white cells platelets, used for blood clotting, and 43 red cells used to treat anemia. It takes money to draw the blood, and more money to process pro-cess the blood. Also there is a research division for the Blood Program. This is why we need your contributions. Our county keeps 48 of every dollar you give. In 1965 we ran out of money and had to get help from the Ameri- can National Red Cross. There are many things the Red Cross can do for you and your family besides the blood program. One case was helping help-ing a Duchesne County boy come home from Vietnam to be with his father a few days before he passed away. Another Ano-ther case was a fellow without funds, and the Red Cross loaned him money to go on to his destination. Give to your volunteer worker, it may be you or your family you are helping. Volunteer Fund Driver workers are Mrs. William Lewis, Mrs. Marie Baum, Mrs. Ralph Halstead, Mrs. Edward Kiel-basa, Kiel-basa, Mrs. Mattie Anderson, Mrs. Fay Davis, and Mrs. Leah Mitchell. If you have any question about the Red Cross, or need help from the Red Cross, phone Mrs. Neil Moon at 7474 Duchesne. |
