Special guests in addition to Dr. Parsons were his wife. Thelma and also the Kaysville Rotary Anns. Following dinner, President Oram introduced the District Governor to members and guests. Some of those members include: back, Paul Washburn, left, French horn; Greg Squire, trumpet; Rick Widner, trombone and Wade Lawrence, drums; front, Shauna Jacobs, left, trombone; Leigh Ann Hattfield, clarinet; Keith Christensen, trumpet and Renee Shoop, clarinet. award-winnin- AWARD-WINNIN- G BAND LAYTON - The school year began on a high note for the Layton High School Band. -- THIS member perform- 40-pl- ing and marching group took sweepstakes honors in the over-al- l band competition at the BYU Homecoming festivities that were held recently in Provo. Most high school bands in the state participated. The groups were judged on their street marching, appearance, uniforms, uniformity of drill, alignment and musical performance. Included in the prize was a nice trophy and a ticket for all band members to the BYU football game. THE LAYTON High band kept busy all summer performing for many local occasions and participating in summer outdoor celebrations. The band received an award for participating in the Lehi Pioneer Dijys on June 28. They marched in the local July 4th para g des and received a first place award in the Kaysville parade. The band played at Lagoon on July 4th. THEY WERE featured in the Layton High School Homecoming parade and the football game half time activities. The band students are now pre- paring music for the Christmas Concert which will be held Dec. 12 at the high school in conjunction with bands from Central Davis Junior High School and North Layton Junior High School. The Central Davis concert choir will also perform.
