GAINS Hunt-Wesso- SCHOLARSHIP Arthur Bow man of Kaysville has been awarded a full tuition scholarship by the Food Industry Management Department for the 1984-8- 5 academic ear to the University of Southern California. Upon completion in May 1985 he will be entitled to receive an associate certificate with credits applying towards his planned business management degree. THIS YEAR, there are 45 stu-- . dents enrolled in USC's Food Industry Management Program from states. West Germany, Belgium and Australia. Mr. Bowman is one of four from Utah. He is an officer and director of Bowman's Inc. and was the grocery department manager of Bow 1 1 mans Kaysville food store until starting his studies in Los Angeles on Sept. 4. Clearfield. Jeff is a Shuttle Driver in Clover Clubs Transportation Department. MRS. MANDEVILLE earned a chemistry degree from Wright Community College in Ohio. She continued hereducation at the University of Southern California. She earned a second degree in early childhood education from Bellevue Community College in Washington. She worked in special ON JUNE 14. 1984 while returning to Salt Lake from making a delivery in Evanston. Wyo.. Jeff was passed by a speeding motorist who nearly forced him off the road. The driver continued traveling in an SHORT time later the same person approached Jeff's truck A which was then being followed by another car. The erratic driver hit the car following the Clover Club truck and forced it off the highway. The driver did not stop and instead crossed the median and headed back toward Evanston. Jeff stopped and gave assistance to the one person who was still alive in the car that was forced olT the road. Another trucker stopped and helped Jeff stabilize the victim until an ambulance and the State Highway Patrol could be summoned. WHILE THE Highway Patrolman was still investigating the accident . the offending driver appeared once again heading toward Salt Lake. Jeff was able to identify the driver and the vehicle. This information led to the driver's arrest. There were two fatalities in this hit and run accident. LORRAINE MANDEVILLE Utah with its unique beauty, vitality of its people and its economic growth, make this state an exciting place to live, says Lorraine Mandeville as she announced as the Democratic candidate for the position of State Representative from Layton Legislative District 16. As one who moved here from the state of Washington five years ago, Lorraine Mandeville, a lifetime Democrat, wanted to be part of the action. ECONOMIC growth is a must in order to meet the needs of the state, she says in a new release. New sources of revenue must be found without discouraging business. Growth must not come about by sacrificing the environment. A balance must be found according to Mandeville. SHE IS active in the League of Women Voters and has just completed two years of work on a committee study on child care in Utah. This study will be released in September. Once a week she gives her time to Travelers Aid Society at the Salt Lake International Air' port.
