Show 16 Utah BOX ELDER JOURNAL, Brigham City, Promontory Reports Thursday, September 19, 1974 Skunks start in Garland Gazette where snakes left off Stage Coach Camp of DUP name new officers for year by Flo Munson The Stage Coach Camp of DUP met at the home of Ruth Holman in East Garland Thursday evening for their first meeting for the season. Officers who will preside for the coming two years are Essie Peterson, captain; NaVelle Rhodes, first vice captain; Orpha Oyler, second vice captain; Voylet Grover, secretary; Letitia Sorenson, historian; Helen Marriott, chaplin; LaRae Coombs, Hansen, registrar; organist; Mabel Merle Larson, chorister. Mabel Hansen gave an interesting lesson on The Year of 1874. Essie Peterson read a pioneer history. Light refreshments were served. The Bear River Chapter of Utah Young Homemakers held in the their meeting homemaking department at Bear River High school Wednesday evening. Special guests were Bessie Christensen, Diane Jeppsen and Mrs. Anderson from the Golden Spike Chapter, Sharon Jensen and Emily Jensen of Garland. Mrs. Jane Darlene Bergen of Roy, handwriting expert was there to analyse each ladies hand- writing and determine facts about each one. Light refreshments were served. Shirley Rose and Hazel Rose spent Friday in Logan. Hazel Rose visited her parents Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Buttars. : Visiting Mr. and Mrs. O.C. Davis Saturday were Betty Davis and Olivia Dodson of Salt Lake City. Mrs. Boyd Boman and son Richard of Lewiston have been spending a week visiting her parents Mr. and Mrs. Ferrell Wood. Visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ferrell Wood Friday were Mr. and Mrs. Karl Boss of Salt Lake City. Sheryl Richards who has been employed as a cashier at Canyon Village in Yellowstone Park for the summer months has now returned from an enjoyable vacation in California and Washington with two of her room-mate- s at Yellowstone Carla and Zoe Carlson who live at Cle Elum, Wash. Visit Patient Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Bowcutt and Mr. and Mrs. Nephi Westergard visited Jim Wood in the McKay hospital in Ogden Sunday afterwhich they attended the viewing for A.T. Garner (husband of the former Nelda' Burns Whitney) in the mortuary in Bountiful. Others there for the viewing and who also attended funeral services Monday for A.T. Garner were Mr. and Mrs. Ted Nielsen of Deweyville, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Burns and Mr. and Mrs. Dave Thomas and their families. Mrs. Jennie Gephart returned home Monday after spending a few days visiting her son and daughter-in-laMayor and Mrs. Clyde Gephart and family in Afton, Wyo. Overnight guests of Mrs. Hazel Wadsworth Friday were and daughter Mr. her and Mrs. John (Elaine Wadsworth) Thomez of Long Beach, Calif. Dollie Iverson, president of the North Box Elder DUP County board and members DUP Camp Louise Harper and captain of the Stage Coach Camp of DUP Essie Peterson thoroughly cleaned the DUP monument in Beaver Dam and the DUP monument located by the old Hansen Dairy Saturday. The ladies report they actually look like new monuments now. Attending a Petersen reunion held at North Park in Tremonton Saturday were Mrs. Lee Allen and family, Mr. and Mrs. Rodger Callister, Mrs. and family, Clyde Sorenson Mrs. Marvin Ashby and family. Mrs. Ashby was accompanied and daughter by her Mr. and Mrs. Michael Bair and daughter Angela of Clinton. Mrs. Ashbys parents Mr. and Mrs. B.J. Ravsten of Logan told briefly of their experiences while serving on a London Temple LDS mission. Mrs. Erna Butler and Mrs. Christie Corbridge of Bountiful visited Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Allred and family during the son-in-la- week. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Larry Jaussi and family in Corinne Saturday were Mr. and Mrs. W. Lee Thompson. Mr. and Mrs. A.R. Hodge returned Sunday evening after attending the Expo 74 in Irene Andreason, Shuman, Edna Hyer and Esther Coombs, Captain of the Garland Willard Reports Second ward has hew bishopric Holmes raised family tomatoes, potatoes, sugar beets, had a few fruit trees and had a small dairy operation in the Harper Ward area. Since Harper Ward didnt have a ball diamond then, the Holmes pasture served as ball diamond and football field for the local youth of the area. Bishop Holmes attended Utah State university and served a mission to England prior to meeting a local Peach Days queen who became his wife and companion. Ward Conference Sunday, Sept. 15, marked the annual ward conference for the Willard ward. The priesthood session theme centered around encouragement for the various priesthood leaders to assume greater responsibility for serving the needs of their members to relieve the load placed on the bishop whose prime responsibility rests with the youth of the ward to prepare them for future leadership roles. Mrs. Gill accompanied her home to spend the weekend. Saturday Mr. and Mrs. LaMont Richards and daughter Gloria and son Brent their by accompanied houseguest visited Mr. and Mrs. Jay Curtis and family in Salt Lake City. They were also at the airport along with their daughter Sheryl to meet Elder Gordon Lasley Mr. who has just returned from a Kentucky-MissouLDS Mission. Also at the airport were Gordons parents Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Lasley Sr. and their family of Thatcher. Houseguests at the home of Mrs. Kitty Minson are Mrs. Adele (Honey) Sanders, Mrs. Ethel Hantleman and Mrs. Mickey (Spencer) Morada of Seattle, Wash.
