Show Obituaries - J r BOX ELDER JOURNAL, d Two receive Myrtle Irean Blain Madsen, Tremonton, died at the home of her son, Blain Madsen, Tuesday, of natural causes. She was born May 16, 1896, in Spring City. She was a daughter of John and Serilda Jane Allred Blain. She was reared and educated in Spring City. She married Amasa LeRoy Madsen on Aug. 20., 1913, in Manti, The marriage was solemnized in the Logan Temple on Oct. 24, 1923. They moved to Tremonton in 1920 where they owned and operated a farm. He died on March 23, 1947. She was a member of the Tremonton 1st ward and served as a religion class, Sunday school and Primary teacher. She had been a member of the primary presidency and was Relief society teacher and a of the past president organization. She was a member of the Midland Camp of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She had been an employee of Hunt's Foods and a cook at McKinley School in Tremonton. Her survivors include two sons and a daughter: A. Duain Madsen, J. Blain Madsen, both of Tremonton; and Mrs. John A. (Vion) Mainland, Kaysville; 10. grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in the Tremonton 1st ward. Friends may call at Rogers mortuary Thursday, 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 11 a.m to 12:30 78, of Myrtle Madsen of the Holstein Fresian association, state Holstein association and Box Elder county Holstein association. He was a high priest in the Honeyville LDS ward, serving ward Sunday School superintendent and at the as Pioneer Nursing home Sunday School. He formerly sang in the BT Glee club and the Box Elder Symphonic choir. He was a veteran on World War I and was past commander of the Brigham American Legion Post No. 10. Surviving are his widow of Honeyville; four sons and two daughters, Spencer Leon Gardner, and Arthur O. Gardner, both of Blackfoot, Idaho; Kent Gardner, Boyd Honeyville; James Rex Gardner, Larkspur, Calif.; Rula Jean Sorensen, North Bend, Ore.; Barbara Rose Avondet, Ogden; two stepdaughters, Mary Jo Wight, Sidney, Mont.; Adriana Forsgren, Mantua; 32 grandchildren, four greatgrandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Milo Dewey Gardner, Deweyville; Rulon Dewey Gardner, St. George. Funeral services were held Tuesday in the Honeyville LDS chapel. Interment was in the Honeyville cemetery. John R. Bates John R. Bates, 85, of Park Valley, died last Friday in the Pioneer Nursing home in Brigham City of natural causes. He was born May 9, 1889, the son of Richard and Sarah Lounds Bates. He was a farmer and laborer. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the Park Valley LDS ward. Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Park Valley ward chapel. Interment was in the Park Valley cemetery. Mrs. Naomi Gleason Grover Oyler, 89, of Garland, died last' Thursday at the Bear River Valley hospital in Tremonton of natural causes. She was born Nov. 9, 1884, in Pleasant Grove, a daughter of Alviris and Meade Lane Gleason. She was reared and educated in the Bear River Valley and attended the Logan LDS Academy. She was married to Jesse B. Grover June 12, 1907, in Logan. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS temple. He died July 10, 1914. She was then married to J ohn O. Oyler on April 3, 1929 in the Logan LDS temple. He died in 1950. lived in East Garland 1950. She moved to Garland where she has since resided. She was a member of the Garland 2nd ward where she was past president of the YWMIA. She also served as Primary and Relief society teacher. Surviving are one son and one daughter, Jessie W. Grover, Orem; Mrs. Tom (Bertha) Mitchell, Martinez, Calif.; one granddaughter and one niece whom she reared, Mrs. Jerry (Joan) Peterson, Buena Vista, Colo.; Mrs. James (Dessie) Christensen, Salt Lake City; five grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday in the Garland Tabernacle. Burial was in the Garland cemetery. She until Leland L. Sanders Leland Louis Sanders, 60, of Rt. 2, Brigham City, died evening in St. Monday Benedicts hospital in Ogden following a lingering illness. Mr. Sanders was born July 11, 1913, in Fairfax, S.D., a son of Louis and Ina Steward Sanders. On Sept. 28, 1940, he married Lucille Loock in Spencer, Neb. He had been employed as a brakeman for the Union Pacific railroad and was a member of the United Trainmen Union. He was a member of the St. James Catholic church in Ogden. He had lived in Butte, Neb., and the Ogden area prior to moving to Brigham City six years ago. Surviving are his widow of Brigham City; one son, Tom Sanders, Roy; one daughter, Mrs. Wayne (Jean) Inman, Salt Lake City; four grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Marcelene Warnke, Butte, Neb. Mass of the Resurrection will be held Friday in St. James Catholic church in Ogden. Holy Rosary will be recited at the MeyerS Mortuary chapel in Ogden tonight at 8 p.m. where friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. In liew of flowers, memorials may be sent to the St. Benedicts hospital remembrance fund. Burial will be in the Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch. He married Annie Margaret Madsen on Dec. 22, 1920. She died June 28, 1946. He then married Marion I. Mortensen. They were later divorced. He later married Mary Hoeft Chadwick on July 14, 1951. He was director of tne Weber Central Dairy for 40 years. He was a member and past president of the beet growers association. He served as president of the town board in Honeyville for eight years. Leone Dewey Gardner, 79, of Honeyville, died Friday at St. Benedicts hospital in Ogden of Two members of Troop 323 in Brigham City have received the Eagle Scout award. They are Kline Adams, 14, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rex D. Adams, 881 Kentwood drive, and Lloyd Poelman, 14, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jaye E. Poelman, 901 Douglas drive. Adams has served as president of his deacons quorum and was also first counselor. He is second counselor in his wards teachers quorum and served as a cabinet member in the eighth grade at Box Elder Junior High, in addition to being mayor. The Eagle Scout also was a member of the eighth grade basketball team. Poelman is a past deacons quorum president and was teachers quorum secretary. He presently is president of the teachers quorum in the Sixteenth LDS ward and has won ward and stake speech festivals. He was a freshman student at Box Elder High school this year. Mrs. Wood was born Oct. 21, 1927, in Clarkston, a daughter of Lars Joseph and Kate Dahle Rasmussen. She was reared and educated in Cache Valley. She was married to Glen H. Wood on Feb. 7, 1947, in Las Vegas, Nev. The marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS temple. She had lived in Fielding since her marriage and was a member of the LDS church. She had formerly served as Sunday School and Primary teacher, and as a counselor and president in the MIA. She had been a member of the Relief society presidency, secretary of the Bear River Stake Sunday School and had been a Relief society visiting teacher. Surviving are her husband of Fielding; one son and two daughters, Brent G. Wood, Tremonton; Mrs. Bart (Sheila) Andreasen, Logan; Miss Susan Wood, Fielding; three grandchildren.
