The meeting was presided over by Paul Miner, principal of the school, no temporary, organization being called for. Many people have not yet arrived at that understanding. under-standing. They seem to think that to create more opportunities for social so-cial gatherings and entertainments. The program of the evening was opened by the entire assemblage singing "America," with Mrs. Woodbury Wood-bury at the piano. At the close of the addresses an organization was formed by the election elec-tion of E. H. Street, chairman; Reed LaTourette, secretary; Ted Bird, treasurer; Mrs. Swanson, Red Cross chairman; E. B. Jorgensen, program and entertainment; Chas. Beard, Jr., crops and conservation. A similar organization has been formed at Beaver and also at Minersville Miners-ville and the three are to co-operate in directing the patriotic work of Beaver county, including recruiting, raising of funds, crop planting and food conservation. During the evening the audience was favored by two vocal numbers by Mrs. Beth Martin, which were greatly great-ly enjoyed, and also by a piano duet by Mrs. French and Miss Miller, the meeting closing by the audience singing sing-ing "The Star-Spangled Banner." |
