Show j MINEliSVlLLE NOTES J I suppose we should search the his I tory of Minersville in vain to find the history of an enterprise where as m arly every man in town was ac-I ac-I lively interested as in the present enterprise of grading and surfacing the streets of town. It takes more than a shower or rain storm to stop them. It may be imagination, but observers would almost swear that the very couniences of those participating parti-cipating in the enterprise are radiating radia-ting more sunshine, and seem to walk with more the poise of men of importance. The importance of the Commercial club project is becoming be-coming more and more a reality and 19 2 0 looms up as a red-letter year yi achievement. We are glad to learn that the play which the faculty is now working worki-ng on is coming on nicely. Two or t-hree t-hree rehersals are being held each week, and intensive training is the order. It is to be a comedy drama of the side-splitting sort and after the long melancholy winter people's sides si-des need shaking back to life again. We have been noticing signs of spring about the schools of late. Tiie high school girls have a new way of loing their hair and the boys either go to steep or whistle in the' classes. There wo Id be no objection only we can hardly tell whether the tunes tun-es are like mocking birds or pelicatis but we appreciate the effort just the same. Next Friday night the Commercial club announces another basket hall game and another big dance.' When ive remember the last of these functions, func-tions, we all get a tingling in the toes, begin hunting up that collar ar.d tie and ribbon and it is even rumored ru-mored that there is a good business in face powder etc. The basket ball game Friday evening ev-ening was followed by a dance whiah was greatly enjoyed" by both high ''acol students and townspeople. De- ishtful music was furnished by Mrs. Paul Smith. Mr. Wil Morris and Isidore Is-idore Fotheringham. If you happen t'o hear melodies issueing from Miss Hadfields room, don't think that she is trying to run in opposition to the music classes of Mr. Morris. If you listen for a moment, mo-ment, you will distinguish the tones of Theron, followed by those of Archie. Ar-chie. Leona and last, but not least, Gus. Do not be alarmed, however, for they are merely learning a few-French few-French rounds and songs. Stanley McKnight and Golden Ey-re Ey-re are recovering from an attack of influenza. They r erdutfnefwowcw influenza. They returned from Las Vegas last Wednesday, where they probably contracted the disease. |
