Show i i ;1 , Finally, the small billfold J size wrestling and basket- ; ball schedules are ready. I With no sponsor this year, , we decided not to print them j j but received so much call for them that finally decided to print them at COUNTY "1 NEWS expense. i The handy little schedules ' don't cost very much but ; it seems everyone wants one ', but no one wants to pay for them. Maybe . you sports buffs j haven't said thanks to past i sponsors. In any event - jj they're ready and available at the COUNTY NEWS of- ; fice, or ask "Red" when you ; see me on the street. ' Friday the cross -county rivals will meet in the Mil- ; ford gym. Traditionally, j Beaver has been the domi- ; nant football power, while Milford has carried super- iority on the basketball j ' court. ; This year, however, the Beavers captured the works in football and were rated by many as the team to beat in basketball. ; Coach Parsons and the upstate up-state broadcasters went way ; out on a limb before the sea- j son was even underway, tout- ing the Beavers, who are now 0-3, while hardly giving a look to the Tigers, who are 3-1 and growing. ) -0- : But when these two rivals j meet, there is no predicting and the odds are even -Steven all the way. Somehow the Beavers will undoubtedly get their head out of the clouds and their feet on the floor and come j to play ball just like usual. There is plenty of seating in the new gym to handle any- . I one who wants to see the game so get out and support sup-port your team . -0- You think the FCAG is the j only A.O.G. that's under fire? Not so, if you keep your nose . ; to the news. ; ) When the new Governor , of Ohio took office last year, he just put out an executive order rescinding the execu- jj tive order of the previous ; governor establishing the AOG's in Ohio, and in one fell swoop returned the state to normalcy. Even before that, San Juan County instituted proceeding to pull out of the Four County ; AOG. They're almost completely com-pletely untangled now, ac- ! j cording to State Rep. and ! County Commissioner Cal Black. -u - And even though there has i been strong opposition in Beaver County to get out of the FCAG since February 1973 Iron County actually beat us to the punch last spring, just before our Commissioners Com-missioners got us out of the ! SW District Health. Funny thing, but if they'd both taken the step just a few months sooner they could have gotten out of both at the same time since the Health District used to be part of the FCAG. See j how the bureaucratic monster mon-ster grows. -0- Now, of course, Beaver County (as of Dec. 31) is out of the Health District and Iron County is out of the FCAG. But as long as they belong to either one, they've j i got troubles. The FCAG and the Health District are so entertwined (same guy writes all the pay- j roll checks) that it's Impossible Impos-sible to gain complete inde -pendence unless you cut the I ties to both agencies. -0- But last week a Sevier citizens group petitioned to j get out of the Six County j AOG. They only made one mistake, they petitioned the i Lt. Governor Instead of the County. There's others Cache and Davis Counties are in the initial stages of withdrawal. Many others are heading In that direction. FresnoCoun- ! ty, California voted to with- j draw just last week. -0- The trend ls turning away from Regional Government all over the nation and for those of us who have opposed op-posed it from the start the trend looks good. We believe the next election elec-tion will tell the tale. We (Continued on Page 2) HERE'S MORE ABOUT JUST BETWEEN (Continued from Page One) recommend you begin right now telling your local, state' and federal elected officials you' want out now and if they don't see it your way by the election replace them with someone who will stop this trend toward socialism, so-cialism, or worse communism. |
