And we encourage you to submit your newspaper for evaluation again next year to continue the designation for 1977. Cordially, Paul D. Coffman President Iron County withdrew from FCAOG. I live in that county. Then why is anyone from Five-County contacting me? This only proves that FCAOG and regional govern-me govern-me nt are indeed by -passing those men who have authority author-ity from the people. It is time we looked hard and long at the Five -County Association of Governments. We have been fed the line that it was created to give us, excuse the expression, more local "input", but it just isn't so. Sincerely, Elaine Jones J Dear Editor: j Recently two ladies came . to my home. They called I themselves Outreach Work- ji ers in the Aging Program, j ! Their message? I could dial I a magic number and be put j in touch with those who would I j solve my every problem and J J take care of my every need! I ,i I inquired about their em - I j ployer and was assured it t was the State of Utah, but j upon further conversation it 1 was admitted that the per- , t son over them was hired by j i the Five -County Association I of Governments. No one ; seems to want to be implicated impli-cated with Five-County. Why? I think I know the answer ! ' to that question. Most of Five -County's business has too many connections with f' ; the federal government. It I seems that whatever the or- j I igin of the program, the FCAOG has become so in- termeshed with legitimate .; government that it is dif- , f icul t to put your finger on 1; . exactly what funding comes j I from where. One thing does ; ! "emerge clearly, however - j f Five -County is tied directly I ! to the federal regional cen- ter headquartered in Denver, ! and its guidelines anddirec- ! tives originate there under j: HEW. One Hundred Eighteen i Billion Dollars, or one-third i the total national budget is i ! spent by HEW and its army i ! of bureaucrats, and if the j I power is where the money is ... .
