Show OBITUARY JOHN SIMEON MURDOCK PASSES AWAY AT 91 Prominent farmer and livestock man, John Mur-dock, Mur-dock, 91, died June 9, 1974, at the Valley View Medical Center, of causes incident to age. He was born in Joseph, Jo-seph, Sevier County, Utah, May 8, 1883 to Gideon Allen Al-len and Luclnda Elvira Howd Murdock, pioneers. He has spent most of his life in Minersville, where he was engaged in the livestock live-stock and farming industries. indust-ries. He has served as Beaver Beav-er County Commissioner.He also served as County Assessor As-sessor for one term. President Presi-dent of Minersville Irrigation Irriga-tion Co., board member of Rocky Ford Irrigation Co., board member of Beaver Co. Irrigation Co., Sim was instrumental in-strumental in buying the Minersville Reservoir for the people of Minersville in 1949. From 1913 to 1915, while the Minersville Reservoir Res-ervoir was under construction, construc-tion, Sim contracted and built many miles of ditches through the Milford valley, known as the 'flat. Mr. Murdock attended the Murdock Academy, a branch of BUY at Beaver, and BYU of Provo. After retiring in 1960 they moved to Cedar City, where they resided at 83 N. 100 W. He mariedEllaDotson, 1908. Married Eloise Pryor, Jan. 20, 1920. Survivors: son, daughters; Mrs. Vilda Smith, Provo, Utah, Mrs. Clinton (Donna) Boyter, Roseburg, Ore., Mrs. Mac (Edith) Armstrong, Arm-strong, Cedar City, Utah, Mr. Ray S. Murdock, Oakland, Oak-land, Ore.; 13 granchildren, 18 great-grandchildren. Brother, Edmund H. Murdock, Mur-dock, Salt Lake City, Utah. Funeral Thursday, June 13, 1974, Minersville School. Friends may call Wednesday Wednes-day evening, June 12, 7-9, Spilbury and Graff Mortuary, Mortu-ary, in Cedar City. Burial in Beaver. |
