Show Samuel Gillins Funeral services were held in the Minersville L D S Church last Thursday, for Samuel Gillins, Gil-lins, 3 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Heber Gillins, who drowned drown-ed Monday, July 22nd, at Puffers Puf-fers Lake. The infant had been fishing with his father and sister, but was brought back to the cabin after he became tired. He obtained a cracked from the cabin, and strolled outside. His father, fishing only about 90 feet from shore, was unable to see the boy because of a large tree, and he apparently fell into a deep hole at the water's edge as soon as he left the cabin. When he was missed, only a very few minutes later, a search was started, and his body was recovered from the lake. Artificial respiration, administered admin-istered for an hour and a half, failed to revive him. The services were under direction di-rection of Bishop Marshall Hollingshead. Prelude and postlude music were played by Mrs. Phyllis Truman. The invocation was by Clarence Clar-ence Gillins, after which Mrs. Vivian Marshall and Mrs. Sylvia Syl-via Davis sang a duet. Other musical numbers were a vocal solo by Lee Marshall, a vocal solo by David Williams, and a violin solo. Speakers, making, appropriate appropri-ate remarks, were Ruben Dot-son Dot-son and A. Carlos Murdock. Sam Gentry pronounced the bene'diction, and the grave in the Minersville cemetery was dedicated by Earl Limb. Pallbearers were Neal Gentry, Gen-try, Jay Browner, Dale Eyre, Wayne Gillins, Jerry-Eyre and Lee Gillins. |
