Show CAUGHT STRING OF CATFISH Umpire Klem's Ire Arouse by Yarn. Told by Jack Miller When Bad. Strike Is Called. Jack Miller was at bat and Umpire Klem called a bad strike on him in a game played in St. Louis last season. Miller turned to Killifer, the Philadelphia Phila-delphia catcher, and said: "I was fishing yesterday." "Were you? Get anything?" replied Killifer, "You bet. Nice big string of catfish, all with pop eyes and mouths a block wide. Great fish, the catfish, but homely as sin." And Klem glared! It will be recalled that Mr. Klem has ostracized dozens of athletes for daring to call him "Catfish." "Cat-fish." But what could he do? |
