Show HIGH SCHOOL DEBATES SOON Prospects for debating in the high school are very gratifying. A definite defi-nite plan of procedure, for creating general interest in the work, has been adopted and rapidly the various vari-ous classes are getting into line for this activity. Since the development in oral expression will be a valuable factor in the work Miss Street and Mrs. McAlister of the English department de-partment have consentedto devote a portion of the time in various English Eng-lish classes to special features of the debating. With such encouragement and assistance the outlook can well be viewed with optimism. For the next few weeks emphasis will be placed on the inter-class contests, .which no doubt will be invaluable in the work to follow. Shortly after the Christmas holidays the work o' selecting and developing a team to represent our school in the State Debating League will be commenced. With the type of students available which we have we can reasonably expect a good showing to be made against other schools. But in the mefflitime the students are not losing sight of the class contests, but are going into them with a vim. each class resolving to capture the honors of championship in its division of the school.
